🖤🎸 I’M NOT OKAY… IT’S BEEN 20 YEARS?! 🎸🖤

On October 23, 2006, My Chemical Romance released The Black Parade… and today marks 20 YEARS OF BEING AN EMO KID. 😭🥀

This was my FIRST MCR album, and let’s just say… the eyeliner may have faded, but the emo never really left. 😂🖤

If teenage me could see me now, she’d probably be shocked to learn that I grew up, started my own business, and somehow became responsible for a whole lot of furry little creatures instead of dramatically listening to music in my bedroom.

These days, instead of screaming “WELCOME TO THE BLACK PARADE!” into a hairbrush, I’m asking who’s left dog 💩 in the yard. 🐕

And if you follow my stories, you already know that my love for My Chemical Romance never really went anywhere. I will forever love this band, and I will forever be excited about our emo chicken. 🖤🐔😂

Because apparently, you can take the girl out of her emo era, but you can’t take the emo out of the girl!

Twenty years later, I’m building a business I love, caring for your beloved pets, and still proudly carrying a little emo kid energy with me everywhere I go. 🖤🐾

Meet Kristen

Born and raised in Brighton, Ontario, Kristen moved to the Cobourg area three years ago and quickly started her own business, The Cobourg Pet Nanny. A lifelong animal lover, Kristen is passionate about supporting both pets and the people who care for them.

Beyond her business, Kristen volunteers her time supporting local animal welfare and community initiatives. She also hosts “Coffee, Canines and Other Magical Creatures,” a weekly community radio show on Northumberland 89.7, where she highlights local stories, organizations, and important animal-related topics.

For Kristen, volunteering is about giving back, building connections, and helping make Northumberland a better place for people and animals alike.

💗 Hey, I think you guys deserve an explanation.

First, a HUGE shout-out to Terry and Brooke for being so accommodating this week. ❤️ I seriously appreciate you both stepping up when things got overwhelming!

We’ve had to cancel a number of appointments this week, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We’re working on getting everyone rescheduled, and I appreciate your patience.

I know what you’re thinking: Kristen, you’re human. You’re allowed to get sick.

And you’re absolutely right! But pet care isn’t something that can always wait. Animals still need meals, medications, and walks. Meanwhile, emails need answering, schedules need coordinating, and clients need confidence when booking their travel plans with us.

We’re working through over 140 applications for our Remote Office Administrator position and will be reviewing them over the next few days. We’re also exploring hiring someone specifically to help expand our nail trim services!

Calling all creatures, creepy and crawly! Witches, werewolves, furry little monsters, and spooky scaly friends — we want YOU!

Northumberland 89.7 is inviting you and your pets to join us for a Halloween Pet Costume Contest on October 30 from 6 PM to 8 PM!

Stop by our studio at 1000 Elgin Street in Cobourg, where we’ll be taking photos of your costumed companions and celebrating pets of all shapes, sizes, and species!

We’ll have three categories: dogs, cats, and small animals, with first-, second-, and third-place prizes up for grabs!

What are you doing at 8 PM on a Sunday? 😂🍰🐾

Me? At the grocery store picking up Freshpet for a client’s dog… and realizing I’m finally getting my appetite back after being sick with a cold all weekend, so obviously I need a little sweet treat. 😂

And then naturally thinking, Well, my client probably wants a sweet treat, too. 🍰🤣

So there I am, buying cake for a client at 8 PM on a Sunday because apparently I’m running a pet nanny service AND an impromptu cake delivery service. 💀😂

But honestly, it got me thinking.

Some of our clients don’t drive, which means if they run out of their dog’s food at 8 PM on a Sunday, they might have to wait until someone can take them to the store the next morning.

And sometimes, it’s not even about the necessities. Sometimes, it’s just wanting a little sweet treat. 🍰

It’s easy to take the little things for granted when we can jump in the car and grab whatever we need. But sometimes, being able to help with those little things makes a bigger difference than we realize.

We might be in the business of caring for animals, but we’re there for their people, too. 💗

I always try to treat my clients the way I’d want someone to treat my own family. Because caring for someone isn’t always about doing something extraordinary. Sometimes, it’s just noticing a little thing that might make their day better and being in a position to do something about it.

Anyway, if anyone needs me, I’ll apparently be out here delivering pet food and unsolicited cake. 😂🍰

📣🐾 A SPOOKY LITTLE SCHEDULING UPDATE! 🎃👻

Well, folks… it finally happened. 😱

In 2½ YEARS of running nail clinics at Justin's Pet Store , this is the FIRST ONE I’ve ever had to cancel! 🤯

Apparently, even the Pet Nanny isn’t immune to the occasional germ invasion. 🤧🦠

Unfortunately, I’ve come down with a cold, and rather than share my germs along with the nail trims, we’re going to postpone this one. ❤️

BUT… we’re cooking up something extra special! 🧙‍♀️🎃

🚨🐾 THE TREAT SCANDAL — THE FINAL COUNTDOWN: HALF A TREAT. A WHOLE LOT OF CRIME. 🐾🚨

BREAKING NEWS: THE INVESTIGATION HAS TAKEN A SHOCKING TURN.

After days of alleged treat fraud, a compromised witness, a feline lawsuit, and accusations of humans distributing treats to OTHER DOGS…

THE MISSING HALF OF THE TREAT HAS BEEN FOUND.

📍 LOCATION: UNDER THE COUCH.

That’s right. The missing evidence was sitting under the couch while an innocent victim suffered through one of the biggest snack scandals in household history.

Was it deliberately concealed? Was there a cover-up? Or did the treat simply fall victim to gravity?

Investigators have not ruled out any possibilities.

Meanwhile, the accused humans remain under scrutiny for distributing treats to other dogs and calling them “good boys and girls.”

The key witness’s credibility remains questionable. The cat’s lawsuit is ongoing. The public is demanding accountability.

And the victim?

THE VICTIM HAS FINALLY BEEN PAID IN FULL. 🐾⚖️

After extensive legal proceedings, the recovery of the missing half-treat has brought this chapter of the investigation to a close.

But let the record show: one recovered half-treat does not erase the emotional damages.

🚨🐾 THE TREAT SCANDAL — PART THREE: A DOUBLE LIFE EXPOSED 🐾🚨

BREAKING: NEW ALLEGATIONS HAVE ROCKED THE TREAT FRAUD INVESTIGATION.

Just when the victim thought things couldn’t get any worse, shocking allegations have emerged against the other human.

Sources allege that while the victim has been fighting for the treats he is rightfully owed, this individual has been spotted GIVING TREATS TO OTHER DOGS AND CALLING THEM “GOOD BOYS AND GIRLS.”

Let that sink in.

OTHER. DOGS.

Witnesses claim the accused was freely distributing snacks and handing out praise like it was nothing — while the victim remains caught in an ongoing treat-related injustice.

Investigators are now asking the question on everyone’s mind:

HOW MANY OTHER DOGS ARE INVOLVED… AND HOW LONG HAS THIS BEEN GOING ON?! 👀

Because no victim should have to watch their own human give treats to strangers.
