💔 Putty's Heart is Waiting for a Second Chance 💔
At 9 years old, Putty never imagined he would find himself in a shelter.
Once a cherished companion, Putty's world changed when his beloved owner was forced to surrender him due to circumstances beyond their control. The only home he ever knew disappeared, along with the person he loved most.
Despite the heartbreak he has endured, Putty remains the gentle, loyal boy he has always been. He is house-trained, smart, walks beautifully on leash, and still has so much love left to give.
Putty has spent his entire life as an only dog, deeply bonded to his human. That's why we're searching for a quiet, cat-free and preferably dog-free home where he can once again be someone's whole world. He deserves to be the centre of attention, soaking up the love, comfort, and security he has lost.
The trauma of losing his home may leave Putty struggling with separation anxiety at first. What he needs is an experienced, patient person willing to help him heal and learn that he is safe, wanted, and adored again.
Every day Putty watches people walk past his kennel. Every day he waits, hoping someone will see beyond his age and understand that senior dogs still have so much love to give.
He doesn't need a perfect home.
He just needs his person.

Do you love animals and enjoy working with people? The Northumberland Humane Society is looking for a compassionate, organized, and energetic individual to join our team as a Weekend Reception & Animal Care Attendant.

This unique role combines customer service and reception duties with hands-on animal care, making it perfect for someone who is passionate about both people and pets!

🐶🐱 We're looking for someone with:
✔ Customer service experience
✔ Reception or administrative experience
✔ Animal care experience
✔ Excellent communication and organizational skills
✔ The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
✔ A positive attitude and strong work ethic
✔ A genuine passion for animal welfare

Responsibilities include:
🐾 Greeting and assisting shelter visitors
🐾 Answering phones and responding to inquiries
🐾 Supporting adoptions and shelter operations
🐾 Feeding, cleaning, and caring for shelter animals
🐾 Monitoring animal health and behavior
🐾 Helping create a welcoming experience for both animals and people

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in the lives of homeless animals while helping members of our community find their perfect companion.

A huge thank you to United Way Day of Caring and the incredible Cameco employees who spent the day at the Northumberland Humane Society Animal Shelter!
Thanks to your hard work and generosity, our memorial garden was completed, our gardens were refreshed, and much-needed yard work was tackled. Your dedication has helped create a more beautiful and welcoming space for both our shelter animals and the people who visit them.
We are so grateful for your time, energy, and community spirit. Projects like these make a lasting impact, and we couldn't do it without amazing volunteers like you.
