When you are truly good at what you do, you don’t need to compete. 🤫💯

In any industry, but especially in the dog world, it’s easy to get caught up in the noise. But here’s a professional truth: Confidence doesn't look backward.

When you focus entirely on your clients, rely on proven results, and build genuine relationships, your work speaks for itself. You don't need to put others down to lift your own business up. We should empower one another in the dog industry. That said when you've been in the dog industry long enough you realize we all know one another!

And if others are spending their time talking poorly about you? Take it as a sign that you’re doing something right.😉 Excellence naturally draws attention—and not all of it will be quiet. When you're making waves and setting a high standard, people notice.

Lynda & Misha the Bouvier des Flandre pup building their relationship through clear communication.

Lynda was struggling with an over excitable pup that was pushing boundaries, nipping, jumping and had a lack of impulse control. However Misha is just a puppy she didn't understand what was expected of her. It's my job to help them communicate and become a team!

Teaching Lynda how to engage her puppy, add value to herself, mark and reward the wanted behaviors, mark and correct the unwanted behaviors while adding structure and routine into her dog's life after just 1 previous lesson we can already see a vast improvement!

Lynda & Misha show how doing your homework pays off. And because they did, we moved right into adding focus and duration into Misha's "Sit" command.

Every dog and every handler is a puzzle and it's my job as the trainer to help them bridge the communication gap. I always love to see progress in my clients & their dogs. Too many trainers want to complicate things. First let's make it clear for both the handler and the dog!

Never underestimate how Engagement factors into your training.

Engagement and Focus are the core principles in our foundation training here at K9 Mechanix Dog Training

Meet Nick the 12yr old handler and his Redbone Coonhound Bella.

Bella is an extremely over excitable girl who is genetically predisposed to scenting. Once her nose or excitability takes her away Bella's owners had no control of her. Now Bella and Nick are connecting and strengthening their relationship through engagement, focus and impulse control! It's literally that simple when you make it clear for both the dog and the handler!

How Did We Do It?
✳️First we make it fun for the dog and the handler through a simple Engagement exercise.
✳️We added Value to the handler teaching the handler how to engage and reward their dog properly.
✳️We built structure through proper shaping of the exercise, marking and rewarding the dog making sure the dog clearly understands.
✳️Now we start added focus, duration, distance and distractions.

This is JUST their 2nd lesson! 🤯 And a great start for Nick & Bella building their relationship. Nick is a natural handler and Bella is a quick learner so I'm looking forward to watching this team grow! 🐾💪🏼

Some IGP bite work photos of the Gangsta Cattledog this past weekend. This is my personal IGP sport/working dog Whip.

Working towards our IGP1. She's a spicy handful!

Huge thank you to my club York Region Schutzhund Club , my training director Pim Vanderveen for all your wisdom & guidance and our helper Michael Zelko for always making sure our dogs are safe working. I'm grateful for our amazing club.

And a shout out to Synergy Working Dog Club for hosting our club last weekend. What a fantastic and fun day working dogs with some great people. And Dwyn Tomlinson for taking these amazing photos of my Redneck Malinois! 😝😂
