We lost India to colic yesterday š¢ as if being evacuated from the fires wasn't hard enough to deal with, she will leave a big hole in my horse herd.
Even though she wasn't my horse she was living with me for over 10 years and was part of the family. She grew into a confident, solid, calm presence. New horses often stuck with her at the start, getting security from her calm steady nature.
She wasn't the herd boss ever but somehow she just mattered to everyone. When gathering horses up I would lead her back and everyone would follow.
I will miss this gentle big mare so much as will her owners and many others who have met and ridden her over the years.
This was the last picture of India where we are evacuated in Cherry Creek.
