This Thanksgiving, we’re feeling extra grateful for the incredible people and pups who make what we do so special.

We truly believe we have the BEST clients in the region, and we couldn’t be more thankful for your continued love, trust, and support. ❤️

Because of you, we get to spend our days doing what we love, surrounded by the most amazing group of dogs. Every wagging tail, goofy personality, muddy paw print, and happy face reminds us just how lucky we are.

The bonds we’ve built with your pups and the trust you place in us to care for them mean more than words can express. We never take that for granted.

Their owners gave them perfectly normal names…

And then they started coming on pack walks with me. 😂

Somewhere between the trails, the chaos, and the daily conversations I have with these dogs, their names have evolved into… whatever this is. 💀🤣

Please tell me I’m not the only one who gives dogs the most ridiculous nicknames!

🐾 Testimonial Thursday 💚

Some clients become so much more than just clients, and Kim and sweet Dixie are the perfect example. 🥹❤️

Kim and Dixie have been part of the True North Tails family since the very beginning, and I truly couldn’t imagine this journey without them!

Dixie is one of those pups who can brighten even the gloomiest of days, and both her and Kim have a special way of bringing a little extra sunshine into my life.

One of the things I love most about what I do is the relationships I’ve been lucky enough to build along the way. It’s never been just about walking dogs. It’s about the trust, the bonds, the wagging tails, and getting to love these pups like they’re my own.

Kim, thank you for your incredibly kind words, your continued trust, and for allowing me to be part of Dixie’s life all these years. Having you both as part of the True North Tails family means more than you know!

It’s sweet souls like you and Dixie who remind me why I love what I do so much. ❤️

🐾 MEET THE PACK: KOTA

Starting this series with one of our resident reformed troublemakers. 😂

Meet Kota, a Husky/German Shepherd mix with a big personality, an independent streak, and at one point, a strong belief that being caught was optional.

When Kota joined me in January 2025, he came with a bit of a reputation.

He had been running away from other walkers and refusing to let them catch him, which meant a GPS tracker and long line were non-negotiable anytime he was out.

And honestly? I didn’t expect him to trust me overnight.

So we worked on it.

Walk after walk. Lots of consistency. Lots of relationship building. Learning what motivated him, giving him reasons to check in with me, and showing him that being part of the group was actually pretty damn fun.

Fast forward to now and the long line is gone, his recall is solid, and our former escape artist has officially retired from his life of crime. 😂

But my favourite part of Kota’s story might actually be his friendship with Fox.

The second Kota gets into the van, these two have to greet each other. And once we’re out on the property? Good luck separating them.

Where one goes, the other is usually about three feet behind.

Kota didn’t become a solid member of the pack because someone magically found the right command.

It came from consistency, trust, clear expectations, and taking the time to build an actual relationship with him.

And now?

He’s still a Husky/Shepherd, so obviously the occasional questionable life choice is built into the operating system. 🤣

But he’s also reliable, connected, ridiculously fun to have out with us, and very much part of the family.❤️

✨ MEET ASHLYN ✨

We’re so excited to officially introduce a very familiar face to the True North Tails team. 🤍

While Ashlyn may be new to the front of our operations, she has been an incredibly important part of True North Tails behind the scenes since the very beginning.

From helping care for our boarding dogs to joining us on pack walks, Ashlyn has spent countless hours getting to know the dogs in our care — and they absolutely adore her! She brings such a naturally kind, patient and empathetic energy to every dog she meets, and it shows in how quickly they feel comfortable around her.

Animals have been a huge part of Ashlyn’s life for as long as she can remember, so bringing her into a bigger role with True North Tails felt like the most natural next step. 🐾

Ashlyn will now be offering private leashed walks throughout the Bowmanville area, as well as overnight care in clients’ homes, allowing us to support even more dogs and their families while maintaining the personalized, relationship-focused care True North Tails was built on.

We couldn’t be more excited to finally bring her out from behind the scenes and officially welcome her to the team. 🤍
