CARE Centre Animal control services for Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Kent, Harrison Hot Springs, and Mission. www.fvrd.ca/social-media-policy

The Fraser Valley Regional District provides dog licensing, bylaw enforcement, and pound services to Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Kent, Harrison Hot Springs, and Mission. A limited aggressive dog service is provided to Electoral Areas D, E, and H. Our CARE Centre temporarily houses lost, stray and impounded dogs. Our dedicated staff provides quality medical care, nutrition, socialization and exercise to the dogs in our care. Some of these dogs are waiting to be claimed by their owners, while others are being evaluated to determine their adoption needs.

Have you met our resident Jellyfish?? This adorable magical mutt is around 1.5 years old and is a spayed female - our guess is she's a mix of Lab, Pitty and Shepherd (?)! Jelly loves everyone - people, dogs, and she's even hung out with some cats! She's a very smart, playful and affectionate dog who is also really really cute!! Jelly has been working hard on her manners and has come leaps and bounds! She's had a couple of adoption trials and all reports indicate that she's potty trained, nearly crate trained, and has many amazing qualities you'd want in a "house dog"! She has been known to be mouthy when she wants attention - so we have been working on that! She will need a home that's committed to continuing some positive reinforcement and handlers who are prepared to consult a trainer if needed to ensure her success! We all know she's an absolute gem who will make an amazing companion - she absolutely LOVES dogs and we really think having a home with a yard, and another dog to play with, will help her learn how to be her best self! While Jelly has coexisted around cats, she has shown that she thinks kitties want to play the same way dogs do, so she's looking for a home with no cats - and no kids until she learns to channel her excitement! We are happy to offer an extended foster to adopt trial for anyone interested in making a commitment to Jellyfish. She's a fantastic, young and extremely social dog and she's been here way too long. Silas is loving this autumn sunshine, and showing off his moves and playful silly side! Silas is available for adoption and is a neutered male husky who we believe to be around five years old. Silas is a quirky fellow who is suspicious of new people, perhaps due to something in his past, or maybe he just has a sixth sense about some people! With slow introductions and some treats along the way, he is sure to be your best buddy! He has also shown us that he likes other dogs and may be suited to home with a doggy friend. He's a medium energy fellow who doesn't require extensive exercise, but would enjoy a walk and some playtime! Silas can go to a home with:
Kids: no thank you
Dogs: possibly well matched
Cats: unknown

Cabbage is new to the crew and he's ready to work his magic and wiggle his way into your heart! Cabbage is a really sweet guy BUT he's a little scaredy of things that go bump in the night! Actually he's a little scaredy of strangers. Especially men! He'd love to live with a lady (or ladies) - or have slow introductions to get to know everybody in the home! Cabbage is looking for a home with no kids because they're just too spooky! He could, however, live with a well matched confident dog to show him the ropes! Cabbage had a rough start but he's ready to shine. Once he knows you he's the most cuddliest goofy pup, at only about a year old he's still learning so much! Cabbage is believed to be a Lab x Shepherd x mystery mix and he weighs just under 60lbs. Cabbage will be neutered shortly. His adoption fee is $300 and he's been vaccinated, dewormed, flea-treated and will receive a microchip registered to his new owner! Meet Sprout! Sprout found his way to us after a couple of days on the run - if you know anything about the Shiba Inu breed, it won't surprise you that he was a little tricky to catch! 😅 luckily our animal control officer used her expertise to lure this guy in and then they became best friends! Sprout loves toys, especially the squeaky stuffy kind! He views affection the way a cat does - he likes it on his terms and on his own time! Sprout does NOT like other dogs and he'll certainly let you know that. He's also got a beautiful singing voice if you'd like to hear it! Sprout would love a quiet adult home with breed experience - Shibas can be a little quirky and he's no exception! No kids or other animals for this little dude please. Happy Thanksgiving from this Turkey, Jellyfish, and the team here at CARE! Don't forget we have a cornucopia of adoptable dogs for your consideration this fall! The CARE Centre will be closed on Monday October 12th as we give thanks. We will be open Saturday as usual and will reopen again on Tuesday the 13th. Gobble gobble! 🦃🦃🦃🦃

Ember can't wait to show you her tricks for treats!! Now, which costume brings out her features best..? That moonlight sure is flattering, don't you think?! Oh wait, a crinkle toy!!
Ember is only about a year old and she's already so well trained with a number of commands under her belt. She is a Cane Corso cross so her future owner should do some research on the breed and what type of home would work best for her. Ember can go to a home with teens and possibly a well matched dog (she likes dogs but can be pushy at play time!). Shes a beauty and not as big as you might expect, weighing just over 60lbs. Ember loves people and is a social and confident spayed female. Like all of our dogs her adoption fee is $300 and we insist on a two week trial. Taco is here to save the day!!! He's just so... magnificent!!! Look at the speed he uses to sort those toys - it's hard for the human eye to keep up! Taco is the cutest lap dog who just loves everyone. He's also made some doggy friends here plus his smile is irresistible!! Taco is a neutered male who's around 5ish years old.
