Did you know that excess weight can have a serious impact on your pet’s health and quality of life?

Just like in people, carrying extra weight can put additional stress on your pet’s body and increase their risk of health problems such as:

🐶 Joint & mobility issues
🐱 Diabetes
🫀 Heart & respiratory problems
🦴 Arthritis & chronic pain
🩺 Reduced quality and length of life

So, how do you know if your pet is at a healthy weight?

A healthy pet should have a visible waist when viewed from above, and you should be able to feel their ribs without having to press through a thick layer of fat. However, every pet is different, and ideal body condition can vary based on breed, age, and other factors.

Treats and table scraps can add up quickly too! 🍖 A good rule of thumb is to keep treats to no more than about 10% of your pet’s daily calories.

If you're unsure whether your pet is at a healthy weight, ask us at their next appointment! We can assess their body condition and help you create a healthy weight-management plan that works for both you and your pet. ❤️

A healthy weight means more comfortable walks, more playtime, and more happy years together! 🐾

🧡 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 🧡

Today, we honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, their families, and Indigenous communities across Canada.

Today is a day to remember, listen, learn, and reflect on the history and ongoing impacts of residential schools.

We recognize that reconciliation is not just about one day, it is an ongoing commitment to understanding the truth, honouring Indigenous voices, and working toward a better future together.

🧡 Every Child Matters.
