🌟 Technician Appreciation Month Spotlight: Gaby! 🌟

Meet Gaby, our incredible Head Veterinary Technician here at Abegweit Animal Hospital!

Gaby grew up in Brazil and made the big move to Canada in 2019, bringing with her a big heart, endless compassion, and a contagious sense of humor. She’s the mastermind behind many of the pranks and laughs that keep our clinic full of joy — you can always count on her to brighten your day!

Beyond her playful spirit, Gaby is one of the kindest and most empathetic people you’ll ever meet — especially when it comes to animals. Her gentle touch and calm presence make every patient feel safe and loved. She’s also incredibly skilled in client communication and a pro in the surgery suite, keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

When she's not at work, you'll find Gaby hiking or spending time with her two adorable dogs, Batata and Cafe, who keep her just as busy (and just as loved) outside of the clinic.

We’re so grateful to have Gaby leading our vet tech team. Thank you for everything you do — Abegweit wouldn’t be the same without you!

WALKER’S WEIGHT LOSS SUCCESS STORY!
Everyone, meet Walker! This handsome guy was in to see Dr. Cara Best, and we just had to celebrate his incredible achievement!
Walker has been on a weight loss journey with the help of Royal Canin Satiety and his owners, and the results speak for themselves! He is down 30 POUNDS! 🎉
That’s over 20% of his original body weight!
We are SO proud of Walker and his family for their dedication to helping him reach a healthier weight. Weight loss takes time, patience, and commitment, but the benefits can be life-changing for our pets, from improved mobility to less stress on their joints and a better quality of life.

Happy Small Business Week from Abegweit Animal Hospital!

Did you know that Abegweit Animal Hospital is proudly owned by two local women, Dr. Caitlin Matters and Dr. Mila Profit, who both grew up right here on beautiful PEI!

While many veterinary clinics are now owned by large corporations, Abegweit Animal Hospital remains locally owned and operated. For us, that means more than just caring for your pets — it means investing in the community we call home.

When you support a locally owned business, you’re supporting the people who live, work, and raise their families right here on PEI. Local businesses help create jobs, support other local businesses, contribute to community initiatives, and keep our communities thriving.

As two Island women who are passionate about veterinary medicine and the community we grew up in, we’re incredibly proud to be part of PEI’s small business community. Every time you choose to support Abegweit, you’re supporting a local business that cares deeply about its patients, clients, team, and community.

Thank you to our amazing clients for trusting us with your furry family members and for supporting our locally owned veterinary hospital. We wouldn’t be here without you!

For Veterinary Technician Appreciation Month we would like to celebrate Michelle

Michelle is our resident Cat Whisperer (or should we say Cat Magician). She somehow manages to calm even the feistiest felines — all while humming her favorite tunes.

She keeps the clinic buzzing with her tunes, always with some hot tea in her hands, and a smile that never quits.

In the clinic, Michelle is our dentistry anesthesia queen. She takes charge during dental procedures, keeping our patients safe, comfortable, and carefully monitored from start to finish. Once the teeth are sparkling clean, she makes sure every patient wakes up smoothly — freshly brushed, cozy, and ready for cuddles.

When she’s not playing her trumpet or showing off her semi-pro softball skills, she’s probably still humming one of her favorite tunes. We’re so lucky to have her on our team! ❤️

Butterscotch was in with Dr. Mila Profit for his neuter. He got lots of snuggles and hugs from our technician Lynn while he was here. We just adored this handsome man so much.

For Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week we would like to celebrate Lynn

If calm had a face, it would be Lynn's. She’s one of the kindest, most soft-spoken humans you’ll ever meet — always gentle and patient with every dog and cat that comes through our doors.

She’s a true terrier lover at heart, especially when it comes to her two adorable pups, Willa and Ruthie. When she’s not caring for patients, you’ll probably find her exploring the woods or strolling along the beach — camera in hand, capturing the beauty of nature.

A few more things you should know: she’s a big Blue Rodeo fan, a year-round soup enthusiast, and never says no to chocolate (honestly, who would?). She has also been working for Abegweit Animal Hospital for 28 years.

We’re so lucky to have her peaceful energy and big heart as part of our team!
