Charlottetown Veterinary Clinic We are proud to have 10 full-time veterinarians that serve both large and small animals as well as exotic pets.

The Charlottetown Veterinary Clinic is pleased to have serviced Prince Edward Island’s veterinary needs for more than fifty years, having been established in 1952 by Dr. Hammond Kelly. Over the years the building itself has undergone various renovations in order to accommodate the ever-changing veterinary industry. All of our vets attend continuing education during the year to keep abreast of new developments and procedures within the veterinary field.

Today, on Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, we pause to honor and remember the beloved pets who have touched our lives and crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

Our pets are more than companions, they are family, teachers of unconditional love, and keepers of our hearts. Saying goodbye is never easy, but the pawprints they leave on our souls last forever.

Whether it’s been days, months, or years, their memory lives on in the stories we tell, the photos we keep close, and the quiet moments when we still feel their presence by our side.

Take a moment today to reflect on your own special companion, light a candle, share a photo, or simply whisper their name. Though they may be gone from our sight, they are never gone from our hearts.

Our clinic has been blessed over the last 3 years to have a Veterinarian win the PEIVMA Practitioner of the Year Award.

"The PEIVMA Practitioner of the Year Award was created in 2023 to recognize the excellence of a deserving member in clinical practice. Nominations may be submitted by members of the animal-owning public or student volunteers, with candidates required to have been actively practicing on Prince Edward Island within the previous calendar year."

Nominations are due Next Friday September 4th💗

Hey CVC Family!

We are closed for the morning ONLY during the gold cup and saucer parade on Friday August 21st. We will be opened for food and appointments between 12:30PM-5:00PM. If any emergencies do arise during the times we are closed, please call 902-892-4287.

We are very excited to announce that beginning September 3, we will be able to offer at-home wellness visits!

We think this will be a very valuable service for our clients and their pets. Whether your pet has trouble travelling, is reactive, or maybe you just don’t feel like leaving the house, we can now come to you!

A few key, but very important points:
• To start, it will be offered one day per week.
• This service will only be offered to current clients.
• Calls will be limited to a 15 km radius of the clinic.
• This service is for wellness exams only. NO emergency or urgent care calls.

Happy International Cat Day to all of our furry friends who come through the doors of CVC!

Cats really are something special. They can be sassy, independent, weird, cuddly, dramatic, hilarious, and somehow manage to make us completely obsessed with them.
Whether they’re curled up beside us, yelling at us for dinner, knocking things off the counter for absolutely no reason, or giving us that one little head bump when they need some love… they have a way of making our lives better just by being in them.

So, in honour of all the amazing kitties out there, share your favourite photo of your cat in the comments!

UPDATE: GENE HAS BEEN FOUND - THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO SHARED.

🚨 Missing Cat – Please Share 🚨

A cat who was here for an appointment managed to get out in our parking lot, and despite searching high and low (with plenty of treats!), we have not been able to find him. We are at 5 Kirkwood Drive in Charlottetown. He was last seen in a bush behind 86 Newland Crescent.

Gene is an unneutered male, mostly white with orange ears, an orange nose, and an orange tail. He may or may not be wearing a green collar.

Summer is here and the heat seems to be staying. ☀️🌡️

We need to take extra precautions when it comes to the hot days and our fur babies!

Signs of heat stroke include:
Heavy panting, difficulty breathing, excessive thirst.
Bright red tongue and gums.
Thick saliva, drooling, vomiting or diarrhea.
Unsteadiness and staggering.
Lethargy.

Dangers of heat stroke:
Collapse
Sezuires
Organ failure
Death
