Spent the weekend at boot camp and was blown away by the caliber of this experience!

As someone teaching nose work classes, it feels important to also put myself in my students’ shoes and experience the exhibitor side of the sport. Preparing for scent work trials is a whole different layer of learning, and I loved getting to step into that process with my senior dog.

Watching him problem solve odour work continues to amaze me. It’s such a powerful reminder of how deeply instinctual scenting is for dogs, and proof that senior dogs absolutely can learn new tricks. Honestly, he may have had more fun than I did.

Also had a blast bringing some treats along for the weekend. I laughed hearing how many nose work folks already know the lineup and have their own local “dealer” for these addictive rewards. Of course they do. Nose work people know ALL the best rewards!!

Huge gratitude to the esteemed judges and instructors who made this such a high-level learning opportunity right here in the Maritimes. Feeling very lucky to have access to this kind of education locally, and already ready to jump on the waitlist for the next boot camp.

Today’s assignment: rehearse only the good stuff and quietly de-stress a few humans along the way.

We took this Puppy Prep show to and she understood the vibe immediately. Just calmly existing in a busy space like she’s been doing it for years.

Then she heard it was Robert’s birthday… and obviously couldn’t miss that pawty. 🎉

Also; just landed in this space. So now it’s cider, coffee, and as if there weren’t enough good vibes around this place, it just grew more.

This is your little preview of what’s possible when we build skills before expecting dogs to “just behave” on patios.

And… keep an eye out.
We may have a couple patio-focused workshops coming this spring 👀

Because “dog-friendly” should actually feel good for everyone involved.

And yes… the real secret to success is obviously cheese bites by for the win.

For all this, 100% of proceeds will go to PEI CARES. I will have space to book 5 dogs per half-hour (20 total) so I’ll set up the booking forms to reflect that, which if these fill up also gives us a way to predict how many we will see on the day of the event.
