As September begins, we’re reflecting on a very bittersweet month for Purrfect Paths. ❤️‍🩹

Early in August, we were utterly heartbroken by the sudden passing of Marble and Midnight’s amazing mom. 😢💔

August also brought us some incredibly happy news. Several much-loved cats who had been with our rescue for a long time finally found their forever homes. But in the wake of such a huge loss for Marble and Midnight, their family and friends, and everyone whose lives their mom touched, it didn’t feel right to immediately jump into celebrating publicly.

So, as we begin a new month, we want to make some room for the joy too. ❤️

Chester, Stitch, and Navi all found their forever homes in August! 🏡🎉 Seeing each of them begin this next chapter has given us some very big reasons to smile during an otherwise difficult month.

They’ll each get their own adoption update as they settle in, complete with their new names and hopefully some glimpses of them getting comfortable with their new families and feline siblings. 🥰

We haven’t yet had the opportunity to speak directly with the family currently caring for Marble and Midnight, but we’ve let their mom’s friends know that Purrfect Paths is here to support them however we can. We’ve also offered to cover vet visits and vaccinations for both cats to help make things a little easier for the family during an incredibly difficult time.

When we know more and have their family’s permission to share, we’ll update our community on how these two very special kitties are doing. ❤️🐾

Here’s to September bringing a little more joy, while we continue to hold space for those we lost and the lives they touched. ❤️

Sprout 🌱

After months of frequent posts and being shared in many different groups, Maple and Sprout have received ZERO applications.

While we don’t want to split pairs if we can avoid it, their foster has noticed that mom and daughter have been spending less time together recently, and both have built strong bonds with other cats in the household. So, we decided to try a temporary separation to see if they truly are still bonded.

Sprout, being the friendlier of the two and more likely to attract adoption applicants, moved to a temporary foster home along with one of her foster brothers to help ease the transition. It’s still early days, but she’s been cautiously opening up and doing really well in her new environment. Just as importantly, Maple hasn’t shown any signs of distress without Sprout around.

As we shared in their profiles, before Maple was trapped by our rescue, she had already been separated from a cat she was bonded with when another rescue trapped him after he was injured. Once we brought Maple into rescue, she formed a very strong bond with her daughter as Sprout grew older, and we didn’t want to put her through another separation if we didn’t have to.

But in recent months, Maple has also formed great bonds with other foster cats, including Lilo, Nani, and Pebble. Seeing those relationships grow made us feel like this was a good time to at least try a separation and see how they both did.

So far, we’re cautiously optimistic. ❤️

In June 2025, Scrappy found his forever family. 🐾

It's hard to believe it's already been over a year since this sweet, chatty boy went home. Since then, he's filled his family's days with endless conversations, playful antics, and plenty of bird-watching from his favourite window perch. 🐦

While he's won everyone's heart, there's one person who holds a very special place in his, and it's his big sister 🥰. His family says one of their favourite things about Scrappy is how protective he is of her and how she's become his person. 💙

Here's what his family had to share about their first year together:

"Adopting Scrappy has been one of the best decisions we've made. He is such a sweet, vocal boy who keeps life exciting with his playful personality and love of bird-watching. One of our favourite things about him is how protective he is of his big sister, who he's also chosen as his person.

Tamara at Purrfect Paths was wonderful to work with throughout the adoption process, and it's clear his foster home gave him so much love and care. After just a few weeks with us, Scrappy settled in beautifully and truly became part of the family. We couldn't imagine our home without him!" ❤️

Stories like Scrappy's remind us why rescue matters. Watching a cat go from waiting for a home to becoming someone's best friend is the greatest reward we could ask for.

Thank you to Scrappy's wonderful family for opening your hearts to him and for sharing your experience with us. Knowing he is so loved is everything we could have hoped for.

PEBBLE IS STILL WAITING, so we’re putting her sweet face back on your feed until her people show up. 🩶🐾

Pebble has been waiting since December 2024, when she was trapped in a backyard and brought into foster care. Since then, she has been slowly learning what safety, consistency, and trust can feel like.

She is a quiet, gentle girl whose progress shows up in small, meaningful moments: staying nearby a little longer, relaxing more deeply, watching the world with softer eyes, and learning that people can be safe.

Pebble absolutely LOVES other cats. A friendly, confident resident cat would make a huge difference for her, helping her feel more secure as she settles into a new home. Feline companionship is one of the biggest keys to her comfort and confidence.

Pebble’s dream home is:

☀️🐾 : Hot Summer Days 🐾☀️

Heading out for the day? Don’t forget about the temperature your cat is staying behind in. 🐱🌡️

On hot August days, a closed-up home can get uncomfortable quickly, especially in rooms with lots of direct sunlight. Before you leave:

💧 Put out plenty of fresh water, ideally in more than one spot
🪟 Close blinds or curtains where the afternoon sun pours in
❄️ Make sure your cat has access to the coolest areas of your home
🌬️ Keep air circulating or the A/C on at a safe temperature
🚪 Don’t accidentally shut them into a hot room

And if your cat has outdoor access, hot days call for extra caution. Make sure they always have access to fresh water and shade, and keep them indoors during extreme heat and the hottest parts of the day.

Watch for heavy panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, confusion, or collapse. These can be signs of overheating and require urgent veterinary attention.

A little planning before you head out can help make sure your cat spends the day doing what cats do best: finding the coolest spot in the house and refusing to move. 😹

✨ Meet Navi, a young cat with lots of kitten energy, a big personality, and a serious love of cuddles.🐾

Navi is playful, curious, energetic, and mischievous. She loves to explore, investigate what her people are doing, play, zoom around, and find her own creative ways to stay entertained. There is still a whole lot of kitten in this girl! 😄

She’s also incredibly affectionate. Navi was hand-raised from just one day old and loves being close to her people. She’ll curl up on your chest, get her face right up near yours, and settle in with a very enthusiastic purr.

And Navi has opinions! She has an adorable little “growl-talk” when she has something to say, plus a very healthy enthusiasm for food. She’s funny, confident, social, and the kind of cat who likes being involved in everyday life.

🐾 Who would be a great match for Navi?

Someone who genuinely enjoys kitten energy and wants an interactive relationship with their cat.

Navi will thrive with people who have time for daily play and enrichment, enjoy keeping a curious young cat busy, and can appreciate the antics and mischief that come with this stage of life. She has energy to burn, a brain to keep occupied, and lots of affection to give.

A friendly feline companion could also be a great fit, especially a cat who would enjoy an energetic playmate. Navi is good with cats and kids.

She’s also pretty hard to resist with her creamy coat, darker colourpoint markings, and expressive little face. 💗

If you’re hoping for a playful, affectionate, kitten-like companion and you’re ready to give her plenty of interaction, enrichment, and love, Navi might be your girl.

🚨🚨URGENT FOSTER NEEDED🚨🚨

A possibly pregnant stray cat has been found and we urgently need someone to temporarily foster while we wait for the 3-day stray hold to pass. Unfortunately her finder is unable to keep her even for the night and if we are unable to find someone, the finder will release her back outside.

We are currently contacting foster applicants, but to further improve our chance of success, please reach out if you can help.

⚠️🚨 REPOSTING UNTIL ADOPTED 🚨⚠️

Maple and Sprout are still waiting. 🤍🧡

We first shared this beautiful mother-and-daughter pair around Mother’s Day, hoping their story would reach the person who was meant to find them. But the days have passed, and they are still here.

Maple has spent so much of her life being exactly what Sprout needed: a safe place, a steady presence, a mother, a best friend. She has comforted her daughter, stayed close to her, and helped her feel brave in a world that has not yet given them a home.

And Sprout still looks for her. She looks to Maple for reassurance, for companionship, for that quiet kind of love only they seem to understand. They nap together, groom each other, and move through their days side by side, as if reminding one another, “I’m still here.”

Please don’t let Maple and Sprout keep waiting for a family simply because they come as a pair. They are not “two cats.” They are a little family. And they are looking for someone who will see that keeping them together is not extra work. It is an act of love.

Maple, a gentle calico mom, is calm. Sprout, her sweet tabby daughter, is curious, playful, and full of personality, but her heart is clearly tied to Maple’s.

They don’t need much. A soft place to land. A patient home. A person who understands that some bonds are too precious to break.

It’s , and today’s summer reminder is for the cats who are one boring afternoon away from redecorating your couch! 🐈‍⬛☀️

When cats don’t have enough ways to play, scratch, climb, hunt, and rest, that energy has to go somewhere. A few simple enrichment ideas can make a big difference:

🐾 Try two short play sessions a day
🎣 Use wand toys so your cat can stalk, chase, catch, and “win”
🪟 Add a safe window perch or vertical space
🛋️ Put scratchers where your cat already likes to hang out
🧸 Rotate toys so old favourites feel new again
🐱 Use wand toys instead of hands if play gets too rough
