We were so excited to meet Lyla and her big sister, Nyah today. They collected bottle recycling and donated $68.00, all for the animals at BC SPCA West Kootenay. They got to meet Dash and one of the dogs. Dash is currently available for adoption and looking for a loving home. Thank you so much for your support!

Many people do know what to do when they find an animal in their community. First place to look is your local bylaws. Bylaws are in place to keep people and animals safe. Does your community have bylaws and enforcement that you are happy with. Elections are coming soon. Voice your opinion and make a difference.

Did you know that Pet Valu in Trail, Castlegar and Nelson all collect donations for the BCSPCA on a weekly basis. These supplies are much needed both in Centre and in your communities through our food bank distributions. We want to thank both the community and these locations for your continued support in making our West Kootenay Communities thrive. What's that saying? "It takes a village!" and these are our communities working together. People helping people done right and no animal left behind. Thank you for all you do. (Featured in the photo is long time volunteer John who helps with dog walking and deliveries, thank you John)

The BC SPCA is offering free BC Pet Registry registrations for pet owners affected by wildfires whose pets are already microchipped.

To get started, simply email [email protected] and our team will help you get set up. ❤️

We're also planning free microchip clinics for pets who have not yet been microchipped. Stay tuned for details on upcoming clinic dates and locations.

When emergencies force families to evacuate, a microchip paired with an up-to-date registration can make all the difference in helping reunite lost pets with the people who love them.
