Shadow’s practising familiar commands with treats on frisbees as competing motivators—holding his position, coming when called, and heeling past temptation until released to dig in!

I’m also changing the sequence to keep him listening instead of predicting what comes next.

A few mistakes, corrections, and plenty of rewards along the way. Each setup helps clarify what’s expected, even when something tempting is within reach. 🖤

Meet Torque! 🐾 This beautiful German Shepherd girl is here for six weeks of board and train!

✅ Reliable off-leash obedience

✅ Getting comfortable with nail trims and grooming
✅ Finding her off switch
✅ Channelling her energy into fun obedience

So good to see this handsome goofball again after a year! 🥰🐾

Shadow is staying with me for a week while his family is away. We worked together on his training last year, and it’s wonderful to see how well he’s doing and how much he’s retained!

This week we’ll be fine-tuning his obedience around distractions and, of course, enjoying lots of off-leash adventures in the woods! 🍂

So much fun reconnecting with this big, playful guy! ❤️

A beautiful fall adventure with Snow and Luscha! 🍂🐾

Both German Shepherds are working on building confidence around unfamiliar people and in busy environments, so it was lovely watching them explore the forest together, get to know each other and enjoy a little play.

Snow has also been making some exciting progress with his confidence and recall! He’s becoming much more comfortable approaching me, coming back with greater enthusiasm, and even happily accepting food rewards — a huge milestone for a dog who previously struggled to come close enough to interact.

Forest walks are one of my favourite ways to work with dogs. So many opportunities for confidence building, socialization, training and simply enjoying life.

And it’s hard to beat these fall colours! 🍁

I generally discourage taking dogs into dog parks, but I love using them as training environments!

With Panbeh, we’re practicing recall away from other dogs, making good choices without being told what to do (like ignoring dogs barking at him), and greeting dogs through the fence with permission.

Lots of opportunities to practice obedience, build social skills, and reinforce good decision-making without ever going inside! 🐾
