π Grace: Our Little Miracle π
Some stories remind us just how fragile life can beβand how powerful hope, faith, and determination truly are.
What began as an exciting foaling night quickly turned into a fight for survival for both Zee and her unborn foal. After hours of complications during delivery, the situation became critical. Despite every effort, there came a point when we feared the worst and focused on trying to save Zee.
The foal had been without oxygen far longer than she should have been. By all medical expectations, she should not have survived.
But somehow, she did.
When she finally entered the world, she came out kicking.
Not only was she alive, but she had remarkably little fluid in her lungs considering everything she had endured. It was a moment none of us will ever forget.
We named her Grace, because she is truly here by the grace of God.
Grace was rushed to Moore Equine's ICU, where she was diagnosed as a dummy foal secondary to birth complications. Her initial prognosis was only 50/50. She received around-the-clock veterinary care including plasma, fluids, bloodwork, tube feedings, medications, and constant monitoring.
For days, she couldn't stand on her own. She couldn't nurse. Her future was uncertain.
Yet every day, she kept fighting.
Meanwhile, Zee was recovering from her own traumatic experience. Even while healing, she searched for her baby and patiently allowed us to milk her every few hours in hopes that one day Grace would be able to come home.
Slowly but surely, Grace began to improve.
Her bloodwork looked better. Her strength increased. She became brighter, more alert, and eventually started drinking from a bottle on her own. Every day brought another small victory.
Then came the reunion we had all been praying for.
When Zee arrived at Moore Equine, Grace immediately took to her mother. Zee was thrilled to have her baby back, and watching them reconnect was a moment filled with relief, gratitude, and more than a few tears.
After spending several days together under veterinary supervision, both mom and baby were finally cleared to come home.
Today, Zee and Grace are home, comfortable, and continuing to bond exactly as they should have from the beginning.
Grace's journey has touched so many people because she is living proof that sometimes miracles do happen. She has overcome odds that few foals ever survive, and her determination has inspired everyone following her story.
We are incredibly grateful to the veterinary team at Moore Equine, to everyone who stepped in to help, and to the many people who prayed, messaged, supported, and believed in this little filly when the outcome was uncertain.
Grace may be small, but she has already shown us what true strength looks like.
Welcome home, sweet girl. ππ΄
"Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound..." π
