Me and Bertha were able to snag first place at the 2026 Young Guns C**t Starting Challenge! Securing a spot at the 2027 Horse Expo Canada C**t starting challenge. I am so grateful for all the Rocking Heart Ranch has done. Putting on this event is no easy task. Countless hours of work go into everything they do. I am honoured to have taken part in their challenge.

Big shoutout to the other trainers the Kitchen family TC langmuir Lauryn Rachel Performance Horses it’s amazing to see everything they had accomplished in just 3 short days.

Emily Lowe and Matt Rustemeier deserve a bunch of credit for judging the whole weekend. Hopefully we didn’t bore you guys to death or stress you out too much haha.

Challenges like this really show us where we need to improve and grow. Horses don’t lie. They either tells us that we are making sense to them and doing a good job, or they tell us that we are doing something wrong and need to change things up. It’s important to be able to go with the flow and change in the moment without picking a fight and turning things into a battle. As soon as we start fighting with the horse, nobody wins.

The 2026 branding season has come and gone! Made it to 11 brandings with 5 different horses, they were all champs. Some seasoned ranch ponies and some first time brandings on c**ts. Nothing teaches patience in us and the horse quite like the branding trap.

Already dreaming about next year.

You don’t want to miss out on Alfred. I’ve been riding this gelding for the last few months, he sure is a fun one.

Cardston Ag Days c**t starting demo was a huge success! Had one hour on the clock and this little 3 year old gelding, he was a champ. Our first session went great, had a couple things to work through. And Things got a little quick a time or two when he seen me up above him. but I was able to talk him back down fairly easy. But all in all it went great!

The demo was great practice for the Young Guns Challenge this fall hosted by the Rocking Heart Ranch LTD. With the Horse Expo Canada
