'Checking in', choosing to be in close proximity to you, giving you 'unprompted attention' is a foundational behavior you will want to reinforce always and often! ✅✅

It is building the skills you want for a dog who recalls, stays close, ignores the environment, and has earned the freedom to be off leash! ✅✅

Stand still on your next walk.
Observe what ypur dog does.

Our Fall 'Fun Foundations' Puppy Group had their final class today!
Congratulations to the 'guardians' who patiently absorbed an education on how to teach foundational skills, and to the pups - Thor, Chief, Baxter, Sandy and Stella for learning along the way!

These guys graduate with a knowledge of how to effectively socialize their puppies: how to teach their puppies the foundations like waiting for permissions, holding until released (sit, down, crate, place), calmer greetings, our Recall Preschool & Elementary levels, long line handling, and the basics for a loose leash walk, and how to build focus & attention! They leave the group classes with printed resource materials, video links, and access to our private 'Coach's Forum to help them continue their puppy training over the coming months!

Thanks everyone - you guys rocked it! Merci! Wela'lin!

Super big thank you to Michelle Gallant, The Dog House, Certified Evaluator of the CKC Canine Good Neighbour program, who held a testing event today. And, thanks to the volunteers, including Wendy and her superstar pup, Josephine as well as Krystal, Debbie!

Jersey & Brunswick passed! Though they may have just squeaked through, truthfully! 🤣🤣🤣 But, it's all great experience for our doggos!

It's great to have a CGN Evaluator in our area - so keep an eye on Michelle's future events and get working with your dogs now to teach them the life skills needed to be a good canine neighbour!

A long line takes all tension off the leash; gives your dog the feeling of freedom, the freedom to make choices, engage happily and to learn while playing, that he is safe.

Play is an excellent way to change how your dog FEELS.
From fear or worry, or reactive....to happy, coping and confident.
