UPDATE: I have now spoken directly with Kelly and she has promised to stop getting and rehoming dogs. I’m asking our community of animal lovers to please help hold her accountable. If you become aware of this continuing, please contact me privately. I sincerely hope Kelly keeps her word.

⚠️ COMMUNITY ALERT: CONCERNS ABOUT REPEATED PUPPY REHOMING/ABANDONMENT IN CAMPBELLFORD ⚠️
I am publicly asking Kelly Ruckstuhl, 34 of Campbellford to address serious concerns regarding puppies that have reportedly passed through her care. This is not something I heard about through the grapevine. I personally received a puppy from Kelly after she walked into a local café asking whether anyone wanted one. Since then, I have become aware of reports involving at least four other instances of dogs or puppies being acquired and subsequently given away, sold or simply abandoned.

I want to hear from anyone who has firsthand information about these incidents, particularly anyone who has given Kelly a puppy or subsequently taken one into their care. Dogs are not disposable. They are living, feeling beings who deserve stability, security and lifelong commitment. I am asking our community to take these concerns seriously, to exercise care when rehoming animals and to help prevent future incidents like these from occurring.

If you have relevant information, please contact me privately. I am particularly interested in dates, circumstances and documentation that can be provided to animal welfare authorities. This is about accountability and preventing further harm to animals. It is not an invitation to threaten or harass anyone.

Every animal deserves a safe and permanent home. Not a revolving door with an irresponsible owner.

🚨 URGENT: FOSTER HOME NEEDED FOR ZEUS & ATHENA UNTIL SPRING! 🐴🐴

Located in Ontario (transport available), two beautiful souls who have already endured far too much are looking for a safe place to land.

Meet Zeus and Athena, two magnificent Hanoverian Warmblood horses, ages 17 and 18, rescued from a severe neglect situation. Despite everything they’ve been through, these gentle giants have the sweetest dispositions. They’re friendly, affectionate and wonderful with people. Both stand at 17hh and are in good health, although they need to gain some weight after their ordeal.

Here’s what you need to know:
🥕 Temporary foster home needed until spring 2027
🥕 Veterinary and feed expenses are covered
🥕 Both horses are non-rideable
🥕 Gentle, friendly and easygoing dispositions
🥕 A safe, knowledgeable and compassionate foster home is essential

These horses have already experienced the worst of humanity. Now we’re hoping someone can show them the very best. They don’t need to earn their keep. They don’t need to carry anyone. They just need a place where they can finally feel safe, fill their bellies and enjoy being horses.

This Thanksgiving, there’s someone missing from our table. ❤️🦃 His name was Cornelius. C***o to those of us lucky enough to love him. We never knew exactly how old he was when he came to Promised Land. He was already an elderly gentleman when someone found him standing in the middle of a busy road. How he got there and what his life had been like before that day will forever remain a mystery.

But what happened next was nothing short of magical. From the moment Cornelius arrived, he began stealing hearts. He quickly appointed himself our unofficial Walmart greeter, welcoming visitors with the kind of enthusiasm usually reserved for long-lost relatives. He loved joining us for walks through the woods and was particularly fond of sitting around the campfire, keeping us company long after the sun had disappeared and the stories had run out. He was gentle, affectionate, curious and utterly irresistible.

And without ever giving a speech, holding a protest sign or asking anyone to change their ways, Cornelius did more to make people reconsider eating turkeys than a thousand lectures ever could. He simply showed them who he was. A someone. Not a something. A remarkable individual with preferences, friendships, feelings and a personality all his own. Eventually, old age caught up with our sweet boy. We knew our time with him would never be long enough, but knowing that didn’t make losing him any easier. I miss him terribly.

This video is from a Thanksgiving past, when Cornelius and I sat down to read a children’s story together. Watching it now is bittersweet. I would give just about anything to sit beside him one more time. So this Thanksgiving, I’m sharing it in his memory, and in honour of the millions of turkeys who will never have the chance to be known as Cornelius was.

Because turkeys are not stupid. They are not disposable. They are intelligent, social, affectionate beings capable of forming meaningful bonds with humans and one another. And if you’ve never had the privilege of befriending a turkey, I hope you’ll watch this video and meet my old friend.

Perhaps the kindest way to celebrate Thanksgiving is to give someone else a reason to be thankful, too.

My mother sends me the most random s**t. But this one literally takes the wedding cake. Someone donated this dress to her and, for reasons known only to God and my mother, she decided I needed it.

Now, I’m 57, single, living on a farm with over 100 animals and approximately zero active prospects for an eligible vegan handyman. But apparently mama has decided the problem isn’t finding a man. The problem was that I didn’t have the dress.

So fine. Challenge accepted.
