What an amazing turn out today at Mother Nature Garden & Pet in Powell River. 🌦️🐾✨
Even Mother Nature herself gave us a little bit of everything on the coast today — a mix of sunshine, sprinkles, and fresh ocean air.

This is handsome Mr. Meeko after his cleaning, soaking up some well-deserved OMM 🧘‍♂️ scritches. Just look at that relaxed face! And if you watch closely, you’ll notice the instant energy shift when Dad walks in. 💚

I’m trying to get ahead of my usual schedule updates; posting June, July & August schedules so you can plan ahead and secure a spot that works best for you and your pet. (Yes! I do dogs and cats)!

If your pet is due for a no-sedation teeth cleaning, now is a great time to book. Summer tends to fill up quickly, and availability will be more limited during my August family staycation.

🌾 Beware of Spear Grass Season! 🐶

Spear grass (also called foxtail grass or awn grass) can be dangerous for dogs because the sharp seed heads can pe*****te their paws, ears, eyes, nose and skin!

Potential problems include:
• pain and swelling
• limping
• infections
• abscesses
• sneezing or nasal irritation
• eye injuries

or even embedded grass seeds requiring veterinary removal

Prevention tips:
• Check your dog after walks
• Inspect paws, ears, eyes and fur carefully
• Avoid tall dry grass when possible
• Keep paw fur trimmed
• Remove grass seeds quickly before they embed

Signs to watch for:
• excessive licking of paws
• head shaking
• sudden limping
• swelling
• persistent sneezing
• redness or discharge

Early detection may help prevent deeper migration and more serious complications.

We are officially feeling those "where did the month go?!" vibes. It feels like just yesterday we were welcoming spring, and now we are staring right down the barrel of June!
With the warmer weather finally settling in, we have a few burning questions for our amazing community:
