Spending Friday night with a couple of cuties? Yes please! 🥰🐴

I got to meet these two sweet souls for the first time, and they couldn’t be more different! They’re basically at opposite ends of the horsey spectrum. 😂

One is a youngster rehabbing and getting ready to head back into work, while the other is a sweet senior whose mom just wants to make sure he feels as good as possible. ❤️
And this is exactly why I love what I do—bodywork can benefit horses at every age and every stage of life.

🐴 Young horses: Keeping those muscles soft and supple can help support healthy movement, address compensations early, and help reduce the risk of those compensations becoming bigger problems as they go back into work.

🐴 Our seniors: Because let’s be honest… moving a little slower and feeling a little stiffer is relatable. 😂 Bodywork can help ease those everyday aches and pains and keep them more comfortable as they enjoy their golden years.

For those wondering about maintenance schedules, here’s what I generally recommend:
✨ Maintenance / older horses / lower workloads: Every 6 weeks
✨ Showing & regular work: Every 4 weeks at the very least
✨ Rehab: Every 2–4 weeks, depending on the horse and their individual rehab plan
Of course, every horse is different and their schedule should be adjusted based on their workload, age, history and what their body is telling us.

I absolutely LOVE heading into the weekend with those good feels knowing I helped two more horses feel a little better than they did when I met them. 🥰. Love it when clients get photos and videos of me in action since mine POV is always towards the horse lol.

Two very different horses, two very different needs, but the same goal: help them feel their best. ❤️🐴

Hope you're all heading into the long weekend like... 😴😂

If my long weekend is even half as chill as these ladies looked after their massages, I'll call it a success! 🐴💆‍♀️

These sweet girls enjoyed some rehab and stall rest support massages and I think it's safe to say they were pretty happy with the arrangement. Relaxed, sleepy, and not a care in the world... goals, really. 😂

Cheers to a fantastic long weekend! I hope it's filled with sunshine, good company, a little relaxation, and maybe even a nap worthy of a post-massage horse. 🍻☀️

When your new horse client comes with an old friend from high school... how fun is that?! 🥹

Honestly, what a great way to spend a Monday night. I got to work on this sweet guy and catch up with someone I haven't seen in years. Win-win!

And yes... I did actually do some work. 😂 Just ask the big guy. I got so busy socializing that I completely forgot to take any massage photos, so you'll have to settle for one of his glory days on the racetrack.

His mom said something that really stuck with me, and I think it's worth repeating.
This handsome guy won the Queen's Plate back in the day. That's an incredible accomplishment... but he doesn't know that. He doesn't know he's a champion. He doesn't know how many people cheered for him or what his trophy cabinet looks like.
He's just the horse standing in front of his mom.

What he knows is how his body feels.
Whether it feels stiff or comfortable. Whether it aches or moves with ease. Whether he can relax enough to take a deep breath.

His mom has put so much time, care, and dedication into helping him feel good in his body, and to me, that's worth far more than any race, ribbon, or title. (My humble opinion, anyway. 😉)

Because at the end of the day, horses don't care about their résumé. They care about comfort.

Every horse deserves to feel good in their body—whether they're winning championships, packing around a kid in their first lesson, hitting the trails on weekends, or enjoying a well-earned retirement. 💙
Comfort is the real prize.

This week has me feeling a little sentimental, and I just wanted to take a moment to appreciate my amazing clients. ❤️

I truly have the best clients. Every single one of you genuinely cares about your horse and puts their well-being first, and that is something worth celebrating.

So many of you have faced setbacks this year—injuries, rehab, unexpected diagnoses, time away from riding, and countless vet appointments. Yet not once have I heard anyone complain that their horse wasn't "useful" or rush them back before they were ready. Instead, you've followed your vets' recommendations, done the rehab, searched for the root cause of why your horse wasn't feeling right, and made decisions based on what was best for them, not what was most convenient for you.

In an industry that can sometimes place results ahead of the horse, you continue to choose your horse. Every. Single. Time.
You've also continued to prioritize regular bodywork, even on top of expensive vet bills, because you know comfort matters. You understand that helping your horse feel their best isn't a luxury—it's part of taking care of them.

I applaud each and every one of you. You should be incredibly proud of the horse people you are. ❤️

Thank you for trusting me with your horses, for letting me be part of their care team, and for reminding me every day that there are so many people out there who truly want to do right by their horses.

Your horses are lucky to have you... and I'm pretty lucky too. 🐴❤️

I don't know who needs to hear this, but...
Forgive yourself for not knowing what you didn't know. ❤️

For so many of us, the way we understood horse behaviour was shaped by what we were taught. We heard things like, "That's just the way they are." "Ride them through it." "You need to be the boss." "They're just being a jerk."

I'll be the first to admit (while cringing) that I used to say those things about my own horse too.
Until I started asking one simple question:
Why?
Why was he behaving this way? What was he trying to tell me? What was causing the behaviour?

The moment I stopped seeing those behaviours as disobedience and started seeing them as communication, everything changed. Our relationship changed. My understanding changed. And most importantly, he finally felt heard.

I often hear owners say, "I should have known something was wrong." But please... don't beat yourself up.

You can't know what you've never been taught. It takes courage to question beliefs that have been passed down for generations. It takes humility to admit there might be another explanation. And it takes love to truly listen to your horse. Remove the guilt of leaving a barn because it doesn't work for your horses needs. Don't feel bad about leaving a coach who's beleifs don't align with yours. What matters at the end of the day is having a happy horse. Change can be scary but may be necessary.

Instead of feeling guilty, be proud.
Be proud that you chose to learn.
Be proud that you were brave enough to challenge old ideas.
Be proud that you listened when your horse was trying to speak.

Our horses don't need perfect owners. They need owners who are willing to keep learning, growing, and doing better when they know better.

Because it's far better to evolve and realize it later... than to never evolve at all.
Your horse doesn't hold a grudge for the things you didn't know. They simply appreciate that you chose to listen. ❤️🐴

POV: The air quality is absolute p**p, so your mom cancels the ride and books you a massage instead... complete with funny faces, deep sighs, and fresh racing stripes (KT tape) after. 💁‍♂️🏇

Honestly... I'd say this guy won the day. 😂
One of my favourite parts of this job is watching horses process their massage. No two horses are the same. Some want lots of contact, some want feather-light touch, some ask you to stay in one spot, and others very politely tell you, "Thanks... but can you move over there instead?"
And you know what? I listen.

The horse always gets a say in their session. If they ask me to step away, I happily do. If they need a moment to process, we pause. The best releases often happen when we stop trying to "make" something happen.

One of the biggest red flags for me is seeing someone forcing a horse to accept treatment or chasing them up and down the aisle because they won't stand still. Yes, there are moments when holding a position is appropriate, but the difference is knowing how to read the horse in front of you.
Horses are masters of body language. They tell us exactly how they're feeling—we just have to be willing to listen.

So here's to smoky days, massage naps, dramatic faces, and leaving with fresh racing stripes. I'd call that a pretty good day. 😉🐴

It's been 2 years today since I lost my heart horse Keenya. Some days it seems like forever ago and others only yesterday. I had him from 27 years, from the day he was born until his last day. It's is a really special thing to have had a horse their whole life, and I miss his presence deeply, every single day. He is the "Royal" part of my business name because he is/was the reason I got into bodywork and continue helping horses in his honor.

I wrote the attached poem for him, it has taken me 2 years, because I just couldn't make it honor him enough or sound good enough to do him justice. (Kleenex warning). I know people don't like to talk about death/grief but I vowed to always honor and remember him because he was the most special horse.

He taught me to really "listen" to horses, to have patience, and to always find the "why" of a horses behavior. He was immensely intelligent, full of personality, emotionally intelligent, and fragile all at the same time. I will never know another horse like him. I love you, buddy, and miss you every day. I will be forever grateful to you for pushing me into finding my passion. Every horse I massage always makes me think of you❤️

If this sweet girl's face doesn't say it all... 😌✨ She was definitely feeling some things during her cranial sacral session, and watching her melt into the work was pretty incredible.

So... what exactly is cranial sacral therapy?

The easiest way to explain it is this: it's an incredibly gentle, hands-on technique that works with the natural rhythm of the cerebrospinal fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. By using a very light touch, we help release restrictions in the fascia and tissues around the head, spine, and sacrum, allowing the nervous system to settle and the body to function the way it was designed to.
It doesn't look like much is happening from the outside—but horses will tell you otherwise. Yawning, blinking, licking and chewing, soft eyes, deep sighs, lowering the head... these are all ways they show us they're processing and releasing.

After taking two cranial sacral courses, I'm beyond excited to bring this work into my practice. It's gentle, fascinating, and has completely changed the way I look at the horse's body and nervous system.

This is just the beginning because there's so much to share, and there's no way I can fit it all into one post! Over the next few weeks I'll be breaking cranial sacral therapy down into bite-sized pieces so you can better understand what it is, how it works, and why I'm so passionate about it.

Trust me... this is one modality you won't want to miss.
Stay tuned! 💛🐴

This video might look a little boring... but trust me, it's anything but. ❤️

If you don't know what you're looking at, it may seem like not much is happening. But to me? This is everything. (You will have to overlook the poultice on his face, he thought rubbing his face on his poulticed legs was a great idea lol).

The first time I worked on this handsome guy, he was very active throughout his massage. He wasn't always sure how he felt about bodywork and didn't seem completely comfortable in his own body.

His amazing mom has put in so much time and effort helping him build confidence, trust, and body awareness. That work doesn't just happen during massage—it happens every single day.

This session was completely different.
Instead of constantly moving, he simply... relaxed. He processed. He let go.
And here's the part that surprises a lot of people: I was using very light touch.

There's a common belief that you have to dig deep, push through tension, or use force to create change. But when a horse is guarded or bracing, that approach can actually cause them to shut down or "tap out." Their nervous system goes into protection mode instead of release.

Gentle, intentional touch gives the body permission to soften. It allows restrictions to unwind naturally, without a fight.

Real, lasting change doesn't come from aggressively working one tight spot. It comes from working with the whole horse, listening to what they need, and giving their body the opportunity to do what it was designed to do.
Horses' bodies want to heal.

My job isn't to force that healing—it's to help facilitate it.
And sometimes, the gentlest touch creates the big changes. 💙

Happy World Horse Day. 🤍🐴

How do you even begin to put into words what horses mean?

They let us into their space, trust us with their hearts, and somehow give us far more than we could ever give back. They don't just carry us physically—they carry us through some of life's hardest moments.

For me, horses have always been my saving grace. They have been my safe place, my therapy, my peace, and my constant. After losing Keenya, I wasn't sure anything could heal that hole in my heart. But horses, in the quiet way only they can, helped me find joy again. They reminded me how to breathe, how to smile, and how to keep moving forward.

Horses are like breathing for me. They are my lifeblood. I truly can't imagine a world without them.

I'll never be able to repay them for everything they've given me, but I can spend my life trying. Every massage, every gentle touch, every moment spent helping a horse feel a little more comfortable is my way of saying, thank you.

It is the greatest privilege and honor to do the work I do. To earn the trust of these incredible animals and help them feel their best is something I will never take for granted.

Words will never fully capture just how extraordinary horses are. They ask for so little, yet give us absolutely everything.

So today, on World Horse Day, hug your horse a little tighter, thank them for all they do, and remember what a gift it is simply to share our lives with them.

Thank you, horses. For everything. 🤍
