Lluvia slipped out during a storm, wandering cold and alone until someone spotted the tiny Town of Fort Macleod dog tag on her collar. One call brought her safely home. Her family now has her 2026 licence ready to complement her microchip.
A simple tag can save a life.

This vehicle was parked in a clearly marked accessible stall in front of the library.

These spots are not a convenience. They’re reserved for residents who cannot walk more than a few metres unassisted.

👉 Traffic Bylaw 1837, Section 10.7: $200 fine.
Leave these stalls for those who truly need them.

It’s that time of year again: your furry friend’s license needs to be renewed for 2025, and we’ve made the process as convenient as possible. It’s crucial to take care of this by February 3,2024. Licensing your dog is not just a requirement; it has significant benefits for you and your pet. One major advantage is that it helps reunite lost pets with their owners. Suppose one of our officers finds a dog wearing a Fort Macleod dog tag with an active license and no prior issues. That dog can enjoy a free ride home instead of being taken to the facility. So, when you come in to renew your dog’s license, make sure to provide multiple phone numbers and email addresses. This way, we’ll be able to reach you right away if Fido manages to get loose. It’s an essential step in keeping your beloved pet safe!

For the animals, abandonment can lead to a life of suffering and hardship. They are left to fend for themselves, facing hunger, thirst, and exposure to the elements. They may also experience injuries and diseases without access to proper veterinary care. This can result in a shortened lifespan and a great deal of physical and emotional distress.

The community suffers from the consequences of pet abandonment and the impact on the animals. Stray animals can pose a safety risk to themselves and others by causing road accidents or becoming aggressive due to fear and insecurity. This can create a nuisance for the community and put individuals at risk of harm.
