The heat is here, and itโs not slowing down anytime soon โ๏ธ๐ฅ
With temperatures climbing earlier and staying hotter for longer, itโs more important than ever to keep an eye on our pets during the summer months. Heat stroke can happen quickly, and it can become life-threatening fast.
If youโre spending time outdoors with your dog, watch for these warning signs:
๐พ Excessive or prolonged panting
๐พ Heavy drooling
๐พ Dark red or tacky gums/tongue
๐พ Weakness, stumbling, or collapse
๐พ Vomiting or diarrhea
๐พ Rapid heart rate
๐พ Body temperature over 40ยฐC
If you suspect heat stroke:
โ๏ธ Move your pet to a cool area
โ๏ธ Wet them down with cool (not ice cold) water
โ๏ธ Contact your nearest emergency veterinary hospital immediately
Remember: hot pavement, parked cars, and even short walks in peak heat can be dangerous for our furry friends.
Stay safe, stay hydrated, and give those pups plenty of shade this summer ๐ถ๐
