“Even the smallest feline is a masterpiece” Dr. Kate is our resident feline veterinarian and is so passionate about helping her kitty patients and their families. Striving to bring quality veterinary care to all cats, she achieved the designation of Gold Standard Cat Friendly Practice for Family Pet Hospital in 2013. Kate loves where she works and the people she works with. Dr. Kate feels lucky to

have strong roots in Southern Alberta where she was born and raised on a beef farm. Even from a young child, she was determined to become a veterinarian. Kate received her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Lethbridge and then her life long dreams were realized when she attended the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon. She left her mark there by starting the Feline Medicine Club and then graduated in 2012 with distinction and the honor of the American Association of Feline Practitioners student award. Kate practices medicine with a gentle, quiet care and enjoys developing life long relationships with her patients and their families. In 2019, she was deeply grateful to be recognized as the Canadian Small Animal Practitioner of the year. She loves educating about feline topics and has written for several local publications as well as providing seminars for the public. When she is not enjoying her kitty patients, she is home with her teenage daughter, 7 cats, and jungle of houseplants.

Less than two weeks until the Pawty! Here are the lovely vendors that will be with us that day. Not everyone sells cat specific items, but they all fit the vibe of Zen Cat.

Reminder that most of the pawtys events will be outside. Don’t forget your sunscreen! And ensure you have cash on hand for purchasing food and vendor products

So much congratulations and love to Sara! Sara has been a volunteer here at Zen Cat almost since we opened and has become a regular fixture helping in the back. You might’ve seen her working on the lobby window mural that changes every season. These past few months Sara has been jumping through the application hoops for veterinary school, writing essays, doing interviews, and passing exams. This week we found out she has been accepted into the University of Calgary for the veterinary class of 2030. We’re so proud to support her on her way to becoming a veterinarian.

2 YEAR ANNIVERSARY PAWTY INFO

Along with our vendors and prize and event tables, we’ll also have some people talking about their services at the party. Make sure to stop by their table and see what good information they have to offer.

Hills- The Hills veterinary food diets are one of our go-to recommendations for feline clients. A Hills representative will be here to explain how their food supports cats overall health.

PAACT- PAACT stands for Pet & Animal Advocacy Care Team. They are a wonderful non profit resource and will be here to talk about the ways they help the community. (Zen Cat is also a dropoff location for their Care Closet, bring food donations for an extra entry into a prize basket draw!)

Blackcomb Salon- Blackcomb Salon is one of Zen Cat Clinics next door neighbors. They’ll be celebrating with us and sharing their mystical hair knowledge. Festive hair tinsel placement will be available with a donation to the Cat Kindness Initiative Fund.

Chinook Canine Rehab- Chinook Canine Rehab is Lethbridge’s only alternative therapy practice for animals. Dr Lauren and her team use acupunture, massage, tailored physical exercise, PEMF, hydrotherapy, and laser to address a number of ailments. When one of our feline patients is in need of these treatments, they come to the clinic to provide care. They will be here to talk about and demo their services.

The available munchies at the party this June will be some pastry’s and BBQ goods. Bring cash to purchase a hotdog with chips and a drink, or some baked goods from the Little Bunny Bake Shop . All raised funds will go towards our Cat Kindness Initiative Fund.
