THIS IS IMPORTANT! Please take a moment to fill out this survey. BSL has no business here. Calgary used to be the city that other places looked at when REPEALING their own BSL, so why is the city even considering this nonsense? Calgary has proven over and over that BSL does not work!!!
The seriousness of the possible changes to the Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw in the City if Calgary is real.
If passed, your blockheaded dog will have to be muzzled in public. Why?, no reason, it's just because of the way your dog looks. In public includes going for a walk, going to your favorite pet supply store for snackos and smooches from the staff.
If passed, your blockheaded dog will have to be muzzled at the dog park....erm, nope, sorry guys, our bad, your dogs are no longer allowed to attend dog parks.
If passed, and you own a couple blockheaded dogs....dunno 🤷 do you draw straws with which one stays? The bylaw will only allow a responsible owner to keep one blockheaded dog.
The list given of breeds this pertains to is pretty basic but it also throws in the visual aspect of BSL wherein, ANY dog that visually looks like one of these breeds will fall under these new rules.
Two pocketbook hits include higher fines for bylaw offenses - only for dogs that are blockheads, and you must up your liability insurance if you are the owner of a blockhead.
Responsible dog ownership is key, this is a no brainer. Bylaws are in place to protect pets, owners and the community, this isn't offering any reasonable protection for our responsible dog owners.
Please look at the bylaw survey and fill it out. The City if Calgary hasn't limited this survey to Calgary citizens which is odd, it not only opens the door to anyone to fill out and support the ugly changes and show prejudice against dogs of a certain look.....it also 😏 allows for all responsible owners of the glorious blockheads a voice to stand with and stand up for Calgarians, against any type of BSL.
We must keep Calgary responsible, to ALL dogs.
