Meet Carlos, a handsome 8.5 year old charming scamp who came to us for a surgical consult. As a pup Carlos had never been neutered because of his cryptorchidism- a condition where one or both testicles fail to descend properly. As his one testicle couldn’t be located, surgery never occurred.
Unfortunately this led to the retained testicle becoming cancerous over the years, a common occurrence in cryptorchids. The testicle grew to such a size that finding it definitely wasn’t a problem! It was about 10x larger than his other testicle.
Carlos had surgery and healed like a champ. He is now back to strutting his stuff on the pathways and still considers himself as much a ladies man as ever

Starting May 1 and extending through the fall Red Tree will be offering a 50% discount on parasite testing! With changing parasite populations and behaviour we no longer recommend deworming all pets with the same medication and frequency.
Targeted deworming based on lifestyle and f***l PCR testing (a very sensitive test that detects the actual worm DNA) is best for your pet! This is how we can avoid deworming pets who don’t need it, and lessen medication resistance issues. We can also better understand levels of zoonotic parasites (meaning transmissible to human) such as Echinococcus multilocularis! 🪱

Happy National Pet Dental Health Month! 🦷
This is Gilbert the senior house goat, in for a dental procedure. He needed two infected teeth extracted, and some corrections made to his occlusal molar surfaces so that he can properly chew his hay. He was arguably our best behaved patient of the day! 🐐😂🐐
