Dr. Kirby Penttila and her horse, Chic, have left us awestruck as their busy season of Barrel Racing landed them a spot at the CFR for a second year in a row.

Please help us welcome our newest veterinary technician to the team. Kalyn graduated from Lakeland College's Veterinary Technology program in 2025. She spent the past year working with cattle as a Veterinary Field Technician. Kalyn is passionate about all things horses having grown up participating in 4H and rodeo and she is eager to dive into equine medicine at our clinic.

Please help us welcome Dr. Stephanie Wood to our clinic as an Associate Veterinarian!

Originally from Scotland, Dr. Wood graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2022. Following graduation, she completed two six-month rotating internships in Australia. She then worked as an Associate Equine Veterinarian at referral hospitals in Victoria and Western Australia before practicing as an emergency equine veterinarian in the UK.

Dr. Stephanie Wood is particularly interested in general practice, emergency and foal medicine.

As the days get a little shorter and a little cooler you might be considering what to do with your evenings. How about a free educational seminar at our clinic?

On October 21st we are hosting our Annual Client Fall Seminar with special guest, Dr. Ben Sykes, BSc, BVMS, MS, MBA, DipACVIM, PhD, FHEA

Dr. Sykes is a veterinarian, clinical researcher, educator and equine industry consultant with nearly 30 years of clinical experience. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in Large Animal Internal Medicine and is internationally recognized for his work in equine gastrointestinal disease, particularly Equine Gastric Ulcer Syndrome (EGUS).

Ben has authored more than 60 scientific publications and was lead author of the 2015 ECEIM Consensus Statement on Equine Gastric Ulcer Syndrome. His research and clinical work have contributed substantially to the understanding, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of gastric disease in horses.

He works extensively with high-performance equine athletes and collaborates with veterinary practices, universities and equine industry companies internationally. His work spans clinical research, product development and commercialization, veterinary education and strategic industry consulting.

Ben is a frequent international speaker and has been recognized in Stanford University’s global researcher rankings, being listed among the top 1% of researchers worldwide.

When you work in a challenging medical environment it becomes easy to forget that the events you face and overcome as a team are actually quite remarkable.

We're taking a moment to celebrate our team's success in emergency colic surgery this afternoon. Six hours of intense focus, care, and action to save a horse's life is no small thing.
