After an 11-day stretch of ER shifts, we’re ready for a little time away! Olivier planned a weekend getaway to Nordegg at Expanse Cottages, and we’re looking forward to hiking, unwinding, and soaking up some fresh mountain air. 🏔️🥾

🐾💙 HAPPY RVT MONTH! 💙🐾

From all of us at Rocky Mountain French Bulldogs, we want to give a HUGE shoutout to the incredible Registered Veterinary Technologists (RVTs) and veterinary teams who dedicate their lives to caring for our beloved animals! 🩺🐶❤️

October is RVT Month, and it’s the perfect time to recognize the hardworking, compassionate, and incredibly skilled individuals who are the backbone of veterinary medicine.

From emergency and critical care to anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, nursing care, and everything in between, RVTs do SO much behind the scenes that often goes unnoticed.

They are the ones comforting your pets when you’re not there, monitoring them under anesthesia, providing lifesaving treatments, and advocating for patients who cannot speak for themselves. 🐾

As a breeder and a Registered Veterinary Technologist myself, I know firsthand the dedication, long hours, emotional challenges, and endless love that go into this profession.

🧥 Does your Frenchie need a coat when the temperature drops?

Frenchies have short coats and may feel the cold sooner than dogs with thicker fur. A coat or sweater can help on chilly, windy, or wet walks—especially for puppies, seniors, and dogs who seem uncomfortable outside.

Watch your pup’s cues: shivering, lifting their paws, slowing down, or trying to head home can mean it’s time to warm up. Keep walks shorter when it’s very cold, and dry your Frenchie off when you get inside.

Choose a coat that fits comfortably and doesn’t restrict movement or breathing. And remember, every dog is different—let your Frenchie’s comfort guide you. 🐾

It’s a terrific Tuesday, and we’re here to brighten your day with a little Frenchie fun! 🐶☀️

✨ FUN FRENCHIE FACT! ✨

Did you know that French Bulldogs have earned the nickname “Frog Dogs”? 🐸

It’s all thanks to their adorable habit of stretching their back legs straight out behind them when they lie down! This hilarious little pose is often called a “sploot,” and if you own a Frenchie, you’ve probably seen it a hundred times! 😂🐾

Between their bat ears, squishy faces, goofy personalities, and endless snuggles, there’s never a dull moment with a Frenchie around! ❤️

🐾💕 Oh, sweet baby Hazel! 💕

Our beautiful girl Hazel has officially come into season, which means something very exciting is happening here at Rocky Mountain French Bulldogs! 🥹🐶

We will begin progesterone testing this week to carefully monitor her cycle and determine the perfect timing for breeding. ❤️

This will be Hazel’s last and final litter, making these upcoming little babies extra special to us. 🥹💕

Hazel has blessed us with the most beautiful babies, and while it’s bittersweet knowing this will be her final journey into motherhood, we are so excited to see what this last chapter brings.

After this litter, our sweet girl will officially retire from our breeding program and enjoy a lifetime of being spoiled, loved, and living her very best Frenchie life! 🏡💗

🎃🐾 HALLOWEEN SAFETY: KEEP YOUR FURRY FRIENDS SAFE! 👻🧡

Happy spooky season from Rocky Mountain French Bulldogs! 🐶🎃

Halloween is full of costumes, candy, decorations, and excitement, but it can also bring some unexpected dangers for our four-legged family members!

As much as we love celebrating, keeping our Frenchies safe is always our top priority! 🧡

🍫 1. CHOCOLATE & HALLOWEEN CANDY
Chocolate contains theobromine and caffeine, which are toxic to dogs. Dark chocolate and baking chocolate are especially dangerous!

🍬 2. XYLITOL (BIRCH SUGAR)
Found in some sugar-free candies, gum, and other treats. Even small amounts can cause life-threatening low blood sugar and liver damage in dogs.

🍇 3. RAISINS & GRAPES
Some Halloween treats contain raisins, which can cause acute kidney injury in dogs. Keep them completely out of reach!

🎃 4. PUMPKINS & DECORATIONS
Plain pumpkin is generally safe for dogs, but mouldy pumpkins, candles, glow sticks, and decorations can be hazardous. Battery-operated candles are a safer choice!

👻 5. HALLOWEEN COSTUMES
We LOVE a Frenchie in a cute costume! 🥹 But remember:

* Avoid costumes that restrict breathing, vision, or movement.
* Never leave your dog unattended in a costume.
* Watch for overheating, especially in brachycephalic breeds like French Bulldogs.
* Remove costumes if your dog shows signs of stress.

🚪 6. TRICK-OR-TREATERS & OPEN DOORS
With the doorbell ringing constantly, even the calmest dog can become anxious or escape. Keep your pets secure in a quiet, comfortable area away from the front door.

✨ 7. GLOW STICKS & ELECTRICAL CORDS
Chewing glow sticks can cause intense mouth irritation and drooling. Electrical cords from decorations can cause burns or electrocution.

🚨 WHAT IF YOUR DOG GETS INTO SOMETHING?

Watch for vomiting, diarrhea, tremors, weakness, agitation, or seizures. However, some toxins can cause serious harm before symptoms appear.

If you suspect your dog has eaten something toxic, contact your veterinarian or an emergency veterinary hospital immediately. Do not induce vomiting unless directed by a veterinary professional.

Your dog doesn’t need to participate in every Halloween activity to enjoy the holiday. Sometimes a cozy blanket, a safe treat, and cuddles on the couch are the perfect celebration! 🐾

🎃👻 Halloween safety for dogs! Costumes, candy and spooky decorations make this time of year fun for us, but they can bring a few hazards for our pups. Here are some simple ways to keep your dog safe:

🍫 Keep candy out of reach. Chocolate—especially dark and baking chocolate—and sugar-free treats containing xylitol can be dangerous for dogs. Candy wrappers can also cause problems if swallowed.

🐶 Make sure costumes fit comfortably. Your dog should be able to move, see, breathe and bark freely. Keep an eye on them while they’re dressed up, and let them skip the costume if they seem uncomfortable.

🕯️ Choose decorations carefully. Keep lit pumpkins, candles, wires and small decorations where curious noses and wagging tails can’t reach them.

🚪 Be mindful of the door. Frequent trick-or-treaters can make dogs anxious or create opportunities to dash outside. A quiet room with a cozy bed and fresh water can help your pup feel safe.

If your dog gets into candy or another potential hazard, contact your veterinarian promptly for advice.

Today, we’re feeling especially thankful. 🧡

We’re grateful for our wonderful Frenchies who fill our home with love, laughter, and plenty of snorts; for the sweet puppies we’ve had the joy of raising; and for the amazing families who welcome our Rocky Mountain pups into their hearts and homes.

Thank you to everyone who follows, supports, and cheers on our little breeding program. Your kindness means so much to us.
