The Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS) is a leading animal welfare organization in Alberta built on a foundation of compassion and kindness. Our values are embodied by our hard-working staff, dedicated volunteers, loving foster homes and generous supporters. Our goals are to help homeless animals in communities across Alberta, and to provide community support programs to address the root c

auses of animal overpopulation and homelessness. Our mission is to rescue and re-home animals in need and provide community support programs that help people and their pets. We have an intake shelter and veterinary hospital in Calgary, Alberta. We care for on average 500 animals at any given time and see thousands of animals through our doors each year. The organization is supported by over thousands of volunteers and foster parents across Alberta. We pride ourselves as a place where everyone is welcome — a place where individuals, families and businesses can come together to volunteer and give back in an area that is important to them. Whether that be as a caregiver in the shelter, as a foster family, a transport driver or part of our events team, there is something for every animal lover. AARCS and the people who make up this amazing organization are making a difference every day in the lives of homeless animals, and there really is no greater feeling in the world than to save a life. We acknowledge that AARCS Safe Haven and Veterinary Hospital is located on traditional territories of the Niitsítapi (Blackfoot) and the peoples of Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta, which includes the Siksiká, Piikáni, Tsúūt’ínà and Stoney Nakoda First Nations (Chiniki, Bearspaw and Wesley) and that Calgary is home to Métis Nation of Alberta District III. AARCS is a federally registered charity in Canada and a registered not-for-profit society in Alberta.

You can call off the search, because Hunter the husky-cross is the dog you've been looking for! 🔎

This handsome boy wins over everyone he meets with his sweet nature. He was very nervous when he first arrived, but with patience, kindness, and support from his caregivers, he's been making incredible progress. ❤️‍🩹

Now that he feels more comfortable, Hunter’s playful and goofy side has started to shine. ☀️ He’s almost one-year-old, 65-pounds, working on his manners, and is learning to walk on a leash. 🐾

He’s looking for a patient home that can continue his positive reinforcement training, build his confidence, and has a fenced yard where he can explore the world at his own pace. 😎

Hunter has come so far and is ready for a family that will continue helping him grow into the amazing dog he's meant to be. Could your home be the one he's been searching for? 🏡

We’re hosting a Wellness Clinic on Tuesday, June 16th to help seniors provide basic veterinary care for their cats and dogs. 🩺 The clinic includes no-cost wellness exams, vaccinations, deworming and microchips to keep pets happy, healthy, and with their people. 🥰

To attend a Wellness Clinic, you must complete an application online at aarcs.ca/wellness-clinics and attendance is by pre-approval only. 🏥

We have a very special milestone to celebrate! 🎉

Last fall, AARCS worked alongside the RCMP, the Canadian Animal Task Force, and more than 16 animal welfare organizations to coordinate a massive rescue effort involving over 300 animals from two properties operating as a rescue. ❤️‍🩹

Of those animals, 69 came into AARCS' care to begin their journey toward a brighter future, and we're thrilled to share that they've all been adopted! 🥹

Oscar waited patiently for his perfect match, and this week, he finally found it. He now has two feline siblings (both AARCS alumni!) and a family ready to give him the love, comfort, and happiness he deserves. 🏡 🥰

None of this would be possible without the support of people like you. 💚 Thank you for believing that every animal deserves a second chance.

Happy ! 😻 Today we’re shining the spotlight on a cat who proves that the sweetest friendships are worth waiting for. 💚

At five years old, Thorley is a gentle soul looking for a patient home where he can take life at his own pace. When he first arrived at AARCS, he was considered a potential barn cat, but this handsome boy had other plans. 😼

With time, care, and understanding, Thorley has shown us that beneath his shy exterior is a sweet, curious cat who wants nothing more than to feel safe and loved. 🥰

He enjoys cozy naps tucked away in hidden spots, offers quiet companionship, and will occasionally surprise you with playful bursts of energy and silliness. 😽

Happy ! Today we’re highlighting a very good boy, Quillie! 💚

Quillie is a seven-month-old, 55lbs, bundle of energy. He loves to play, with shredding being his favourite form of enrichment, zoom around, and snuggle with his people. 😀

He’s smart, treat motivated, and eager to please. He can be a bit mouthy when excited, but is mastering grabbing a toy when he’s feeling extra enthusiastic. 🦴

He’s anxious in the shelter and ready to prove that he can be the goodest boy with consistent, positive reinforcement training in a calm, loving home. 🥰

Quillie is also learning how to swim, thanks to our friends at the K9 FUN Centre dog training and pool in Calgary. He’d love to continue his lessons with his foster family or furever family. 🛟

Quillie is also CLEARED FOR ADOPTION! 🎉 This sweet boy would love an active, furever family that can help him become the very best version of himself. 🏡
