This interactive experience offers both auditing spots for observation and limited working spots for hands-on participation with a dog. We delve into setting up, managing, and facilitating dog-to-dog interactions, covering both one-on-one and group settings.

A little real-life training in bed.

Duckie can be pretty pushy when I’m giving another dog attention. If I’m cuddling Scooby, she’ll usually find a way to get herself right in there.

So we’ve been working on taking turns getting attention.

In this video, Scooby is getting some cuddles with his head on my chest while Duckie hangs out beside me. I’ll give Scooby some attention, then switch over and give Duckie some love.

We’re just keeping it simple and helping Duckie learn that she doesn’t need to push in when another dog is getting attention. She gets her turn too.

It’s not a big formal training session — just something we can practice during normal everyday moments.

Because honestly, a lot of the training I do with my own dogs looks like this. Sitting in bed, getting cuddles, and sneaking in a little learning along the way.

After exam and birthday morning cuddles with Scooby.

I was up at 5:50am today in order to write my CCPDT exam at 6:30am. I was up at 5:50am on my birthday to write an exam. Neither Duckie, Scooby or Minnie got out of bed at 5:50am when I started getting ready.

Only my crazy self was up at 5:50am and now I am the only one up in the house at 9:33am.

Duckie looking some sort of way after Lola got into the car. Very excited to see her friend after a while part, even saved the screaming until Lola was actually in the car.

Cuddles between rotations in class this evening and to think this boy use to very rarely solicit attention.

Still doesn’t want to leave at the end of class and didn’t care that I handed off his leash and left, he wanted to stay longer.

Wins for the last 3 days though - we are getting in the car faster and with a lot less effort on my end.

Also, yes dog trainers take - actually they should - their dogs to classes taught by other dog trainers. You never know what you will learn from another trainer or the things you miss when working with your own dog, a trainer should always be willing to learn from others.

Thank you Dogma Training for being that fresh pair of eyes on Scooby’s behaviour and helping us launch Scooby towards success with our goals.

Monday morning with Scooby.

It’s my favourite time of year because parks like Bowness park are not as busy on the weekdays as they were when the kids were out of school.
