We are thrilled to share some amazing news - Laura has achieved her Veterinary Technician Specialty in Ophthalmology (VTS).
What are the skills required to be a VTS in ophthalmology?
As a VTS in ophthalmology, there are certain skills that need to be mastered. This includes basic ophthalmic diagnostics such as Schirmer tear test for tear assessment, tonometry for intraocular pressure measurement, and fluorescein stain test for corneal and tear film health. Advanced ophthalmic examinations using slit lamp biomicroscopy are also learned and mastered.
Additionally, advanced skills such as an electroretinogram (ERG), ocular ultrasound, nasolacrimal duct flushes, retinoscopy, esthesiometry, and ocular nerve blocks are all mastered. This allows for improved patient care and management with our ophthalmologists.
All that hard work has paid off — you’ve absolutely earned this, Laura!
