Hello!

It has been a while since our last update, and we have received numerous inquiries regarding the availability of baby birds. As a result, I am posting this update to inform you of our current situation.

Due to additional significant responsibilities, we have been unable to hand-feed any young birds and do not anticipate having any babies available until fall this year. However, by following our social media accounts, you will be among the first to know when we are preparing for the arrival of new babies.

All eight of our birdies are thriving, healthy, and happy. Our latest rescue, baby Yuki, has made significant progress - his wings have fully grown back, his feathers are looking much better and he flies. He is very smart and quickly learns new words and skills. It took him only 15 minutes to figure out how to use the carousel to retrieve treats. He will be celebrating his first birthday next week. 😊

We hope you all are doing well, see you soon! 😊

This exchange was a painful reminder to me that there are plenty of unethical breeders who treat their parrots like money making machines and this person who wrote to us is going to do the same. Kijiji is full of "breeding pair for sale" ads and it breaks my heart 😖
There are also breeders right here in Calgary who use the parrots for a while and when they're not necessary anymore, they sell them. To "switch up the gene pool" or "try for new mutations" or whatever.
I cannot imagine who in their right mind can have a pet for a while and then just sell them as a thing.

We do not have "breeding pairs". We have parrots. They are our family members whether they have babies not. We will NEVER sell any of them.

Whenever you decide to bring a new family member home, PLEASE dig into the breeders you're considering and if they are treating their animals as anything but family, PLEASE DO NOT sponsor them and talk to everyone you know about it too.

These kinds of questions always break my heart and leave me feeling sad for the rest of the day if not longer. As I look at these beautiful sweet babies that I'm holding and feeding and wiping their little beaks and changing their bedding and rubbing their bellies before bedtime, for some people they're just a number and the cheaper, the better 😣 That shows the attitude people will have towards their bird. People like this don't want to spend much so that when they get tired of the pet, they don't have to regret paying much money for it. This is not a question that someone asks knowing they are getting a family member for 15+ years.

Avian and exotic vet costs can easily go into thousands. If you cannot afford the pet, how do you plan to care for them? Are you just going to let the bird die? 😖 Tiki's foot injury cost us $1500. Mango's yeast overgrowth cost us $2500. And those were not even serious illnesses, just a couple of xrays and tests. Any animal will need vet at some point in their life and that has to be a serious consideration before adopting.

Sweet Baby A has joined her forever family and her new cockatiel sister today! 🥹 Fun fact - Baby A's family came to visit her last week together with the cockatiel they already have and their birdie was the one who chose Baby A as their new sibling 😊 It was an amazing experience and magical to see the two girlies interacting. This little birb is going to have an amazing life journey 🥹

Just a few of Baby C's baby album pictures 🥹
Our babies' new families are always going to be able to look back on how their birdies looked like as babies, how they grew and changed over time, because we took the time to take their photos every day for the first 30 days of their life 🥹 They don't change much after the first month, but those first 30 days are packed with change and we've always wanted their families to be able to look back on that and see where their birdie came from.
