🎉 A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO CARLIE & NAKOA! 🎉

Yesterday was a pretty special day for the K9 Principles team.

One of our own trainers, Carlie, stepped onto the PSA field for the very first time with her dog, Nakoa — and they came away with a PASS (PDC Title)! 👏🐾

That first trial is a big one.

It is where all the training, preparation, nerves, mistakes, repetition and teamwork finally get put to the test in a real competition environment.

And Carlie and Nakoa got it done. 💪

We are incredibly proud to have trainers on our team who do more than simply teach dog training — they continue to train, compete, challenge themselves and put their own skills to the test.

That experience matters.

It keeps us learning.
It keeps us improving.
And it makes us better trainers for the dogs and families we work with every day.

🔥 Congratulations Carlie & Nakoa on passing your first PSA trial!

And the weekend isn’t over yet…

👀 Come watch your K9P trainers compete this weekend at the Glanbrook Arena! Kelly and Tasty are up today to try and close out their level 1 and move up. Natalie and Omen hit the field on Sunday as they step onto the trial field for the first time!

👏 Drop Carlie & Nakoa a big CONGRATULATIONS in the comments!

Welcome Charlie! 🖤💛

Charlie has officially arrived for his Jump Start Manners Board & Train Program, and his training journey is underway.

Most dog owners want the same thing — a dog they can enjoy living with.

But getting there is not always easy.

Work gets busy. Family takes over. Traffic eats up your evening. Training gets pushed to tomorrow. And even when you do have the time, knowing exactly what to do, when to do it and how to do it properly can be overwhelming.

That is exactly where our Board & Train programs come in.

With more than 30 years of professional dog training experience, we take the guesswork, inconsistency and time pressure out of the equation and give your dog the focused training they need.

And experience matters.

K9 Principles is proud to be the exclusive dog trainer for the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA and a trusted dog trainer for Hamilton Animal Services.

Charlie will live and train right inside our home, where we can work on his obedience, manners, structure and everyday behaviour in the kind of environment he will actually live in when he goes home.

You do not need more hours in the day.

You do not need to become a dog trainer.

You need the right training, the right experience and a system that works.

That is what we provide.

Training. Structure. Results.

Welcome to K9 Principles, Charlie. 🐾

🔥✨ MASTERS MAGIC: WEEK 6 → SHOWTIME ✨🔥

Hamilton, you felt it. The momentum is real.

Our Master 1.0 crew just smashed Week 6 — not just hitting milestones, obliterating them. Dogs that once second-guessed are now dialled in, owners are cool, clear, and connected, and the progress? Off the charts. That partnership is the secret sauce.

And then… Master 2.0 took the stage. Gasps. “Incredible!” “I wish my dog could do that.” Confidence up, focus dialed in, trust through the roof. With one week to go, we’re basically warming up the pens to pre-fill perfect scores. 🎯

🎥 Next class = Graduation + SHOWTIME.

Expect razor-sharp obedience, real-world control, and that unmistakable K9P bond that turns heads. This is what real-life dog training looks like when you refuse to settle.

Ready to get in on it? We start the climb in Master 1.0 and build you to that lights-on, crowd-stopping 2.0 swagger. Tap the link, ask your questions, and let’s get to work: 👉 https://k9principles.ca/programs-masters-1-0

You need to prepare your dog for a big change in their routine/schedule. As the summer days wind down and a new season approaches, many families and pet owners face a common transition: a change in routine. Whether it's the kids going back to school or you returning to work after a vacation, these changes can impact your dog. Fortunately, with some thoughtful preparation, you can ensure a smooth adjustment for your dog. Here are some tips to help you and your pup through this transition:

1. Gradual Adjustment: If possible, start adjusting your dog's routine a week or two before the big change. Shift meal times, walk times, and playtime gradually to align with the new schedule.

2. Maintain Consistency: Dogs thrive on routine, so try to maintain a consistent daily routine as much as possible. Set regular times for feeding, walks, and play.
3. Exercise and Mental Stimulation: Make sure your dog gets plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. A tired dog is generally a happy and well-behaved dog. Longer morning walks or a midday play session can help.

4. Enrichment Toys: Invest in enrichment toys like puzzle feeders or treat-dispensing toys. These can keep your dog occupied and mentally engaged while you're away.

5. Desensitize Departures: Practice leaving the house for short periods of time, gradually increasing the duration. This can help your dog become more comfortable with your absence.

6. Comfort Zone: Create a designated space where your dog feels safe and comfortable, like a cozy crate or a favorite corner with their bed and toys. This can provide a sense of security when you're not around.

7. Hiring a Pet Sitter or Dog Walker: If your new schedule doesn't allow for midday breaks, consider hiring a pet sitter or dog walker to provide companionship and exercise for your dog.

8. Be Calm and Low-Key: When leaving and returning home, keep interactions calm and low-key. This helps reduce your dog's anxiety associated with your comings and goings.

9. Communicate with Your Family: Ensure that everyone in the household is on the same page regarding the new routine for your dog. Consistency is key.

10. Reassure and Reconnect: When you return home, spend quality time with your dog to reassure them of your continued presence and love.

Remember that each dog is unique, and their response to changes in routine may vary. Some dogs adapt quickly, while others may take more time. Be patient and attentive to your dog's needs during this transition period. With your love and support, your pup can adjust to the new schedule and continue to be a happy and content member of your family.

You didn’t get a dog so your entire life could revolve around managing their behaviour.

You wanted enjoyable walks. 🐕
A calmer home. 🏡
A dog you could take places. 🚗
A dog who listens. 👂
And a relationship that feels rewarding instead of exhausting. ❤️

But somewhere along the way, things became harder than expected.

Work got busy. Family came first. Training became inconsistent. Maybe you watched videos, read advice, tried different methods and still found yourself dealing with the same problems.

That’s exactly why we created K9 Principles Board & Train.

🏆 Professional training backed by 30+ years of hands-on experience

🤝 Trusted dog trainers for the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA and Hamilton Animal Services

🏡 Your dog lives and trains inside a real home — not an outdoor kennel run or detached kennel building

🎯 We intentionally limit our Board & Train intake so every dog receives more individual attention

🐾 We don’t use a one-size-fits-all system. We train the dog in front of us.

The home itself becomes part of the training.

Doorways. Meal times. Settling in the house. Visitors. Walks. Everyday distractions. Impulse control. Household manners.

The things that actually matter when your dog comes home.

And the training doesn’t end there.

🤝 Your programme includes private transition training so you know how to maintain the progress.

📞📧 You also receive lifetime phone and email support.

Because great training shouldn’t disappear the moment your dog walks back through your front door.

✨ Let us do the intensive daily training — then show you how to keep the progress moving forward.

K9 Principles Board & Train

🏡 Inside a Real Home.

📣 No Class Pics This Week, Folks! 😢

We regret to inform you that our weekly class picture tradition is on a temporary hold again this week. Why? Well, our social media dude has dared to do the unthinkable... he’s gone on vacation! 🏖️ (How dare he prioritize "self-care" over adorable dog content, right?!)

Stay tuned, and don’t forget to tell your pups to practise their model poses. We’ll see you back on the timeline next week with all the cuteness you can handle! 🐕📸

Some dogs don’t need another class.

Some families don’t need more homework, more frustration, or another list of things they’re supposed to practise after an already busy day.

Sometimes, what you need is a premium training solution where the hard work is done for you.

That is exactly what our Board & Train programs at K9 Principles are designed to provide.

Reba’s family came to us after months of frustration. They loved her, but the day-to-day behaviours were starting to take over their home and create real stress.

Through Board & Train, Reba lived in our home, trained with us every day, and learned how to make better choices in real-life situations.

She didn’t just learn commands.

She learned how to live more calmly, listen more reliably, behave appropriately around people and dogs, and become the kind of dog her family could confidently take places and enjoy.

And most importantly?

She was still Reba.

Still smart.
Still sassy.
Still full of personality.

Just with better manners, stronger obedience and a much clearer understanding of what was expected of her.

Her family summed it up perfectly:

“If you want your dog trained and not broken, K9 Principles is the place for you.”

That is what premium Board & Train should be.

Not simply sending your dog away and hoping for the best.

It should be professional training, structure, consistency, real-life exposure and thousands of repetitions completed by an experienced trainer — while your dog lives as part of a household, not simply in a kennel.

Our Board & Train programs are built for owners who want significant progress without trying to squeeze intensive daily training into an already busy life.

We do the training.

We build the foundation.

We work through the frustrations.

Then we teach you how to maintain and continue what your dog has learned when they come home.

If you have reached the point where your dog’s behaviour is affecting your home, your routine or how much you can enjoy life together, Board & Train may be the premium solution you have been looking for.

🌟 Week 5: Mastery in Motion 🌟

Two classes, one unstoppable standard. Our Master 1.0 and Master 2.0 crews just wrapped Week 5 with serious momentum, and the results speak for themselves.

In Master 1.0, the focus was on composure under real-world pressure—staying calm around moving objects passing close by and holding position in tight spaces. We also ran a realistic “waiting room” scenario where owners quietly stepped out. While some dogs were naturally curious, their discipline held beautifully, demonstrating the kind of control that sets the stage for real-life reliability.

Over in Master 2.0, the transformation has been extraordinary. From the buzz and nerves of Week 1 to calm, confident work in Week 5, this group has evolved into unshakeable performers. They take on complex tasks with poise and settle smoothly into relaxation the moment the job is done—a true mark of mastery.

If this level of progress has your attention, start with Master 1.0 and build the foundation that lasts. Explore the program and book your spot here: https://k9principles.ca/programs-masters-1-0

📸 Check out the snapshots from this week—confidence, connection, and rock-solid reliability in action.
