Making a sweet difference for local wildlife. 🍫🐦

During the pandemic, while volunteering at the Reifel Bird Sanctuary, Christine, owner of Vancouver-based Chickadee Chocolate, discovered Wildlife Rescue and was deeply inspired by the scope of our work and the urgent need for support to keep operations running.

With a shared love of birds and a commitment to the environment, supporting Wildlife Rescue felt like a natural partnership for Christine and Chickadee Chocolate. That same care extends to how Chickadee Chocolate sources its ingredients. Though chocolate isn’t grown locally, Christine prioritizes local dairy, nuts, and fruit whenever possible—reducing her footprint while helping protect the habitats that inspired her brand’s name.

Thank you, Christine, for your ongoing monthly support for local wildlife!

As comes to a close, we want to express our deep gratitude to individuals like Doug Charles who have included wildlife in their will planning. Your generosity ensures that animals in need will always have a place to heal — and that our mission endures for generations to come.

Wildlife Rescue is caring for a special patient right now! This fledgling Common Raven was brought to our Wildlife Hospital after being found orphaned.

Thankfully, the bird had no injuries on arrival, and with specialized care has bounced back from being very thin and anemic. The raven is currently building their skills to prepare them for life in the wild!

You can support their care by donating through the Spring Match! Your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar. Donate today through the link here: https://give.wrabc.ca/page/SM26?campaignid=701OJ00000tBYBZYA4&channel=Organic%20Social&utm_medium=organic&referral_source=Facebook&utm_source=facebook

For today's , we're happy to celebrate the release of not one, but two Rock Pigeons!

One bird, was brought to Wildlife Rescue unable to fly due to feather damage. They remained at our centre being cared for until these vital flight feathers regrew - which took about 74 days!

The other pigeon sadly suffered from wounds and a fractured toe. With time, medical care, and a safe recovery space, soon the bird was healed up and both birds were released together back into the wild!

When this tiny merganser duckling was found swimming alone on Pitt Lake — already separated from their family — the little bird did something remarkable: paddled right up and climbed onto the paddleboard of a passerby named Maria.

When the baby first arrived at Wildlife Rescue a little over a week ago, the bird struggled to recognize the food we offered. But after patient, attentive care, the bird is now feeding on their own — a milestone that signals real progress on the road to release.

This is what rehabilitation looks like, one small victory at a time. 🦆

Support this little one, and other wild babies in care, by donating to our Spring Match today: https://give.wrabc.ca/page/SM26?campaignid=701OJ00000tBYBZYA4&channel=Organic%20Social&utm_medium=organic&referral_source=Facebook&utm_source=facebook&mktg_species=HUVI
