🌻 It’s sunflower season 🌻

The goal was an impromptu golden hour photoshoot but the weather app lied to us. It was sunny when we left our house but the sky completely clouded over shortly after we arrived at the Richmond Sunflower Festival

That’s okay though, we still had fun. We wandered through the fields of dahlias, gladiolas + wildflowers, said hello to the dinosaurs, rode the wagon and the train, and walked among the towering sunflowers. I also popped into the Country Vines Winery to redeem my 15% off coupon included with the festival ticket

Help me settle a debate....who took the best selfie?

I was pleasantly surprised at how well our Strange Tails leashes matched the scenery. I originally chose these colours to coordinate with their life jackets but turns out they work well with sunflower fields too

The goal is one trip per month

7 months in and I’m happy to report we are on track! Scroll for proof

There are only 2 future trips officially planned for the rest of the year so we will be winging it for the others. Follow along to see where we go as it will be a surprise for us too!

We were lacking snow this year so in January we ventured to find some. We stayed in a cabin in the Sunshine Valley and explored the local area, including Manning Park

February was a trip to the island to visit Gma, some old high school friends, and we checked out the beaches along the Juan de Fuca trail...even though it was pouring rain!

We replaced the flooring in our house in March so when we ran into some snags and delays, we decided to be tourists in our own city. We stayed in a hotel downtown and ventured to the local parks and dog-friendly patios

Our first camping trip was in April and it was COLD! Didn’t stop us from fishing though. The good thing about camping in the shoulder months is being able to have real fires to stay warm

We love staying in yurts and in May we tried a new location. Fishing was great but when it got too windy to be on the lake, we took ‘Lexy’ for a drive on the backroads 🛻

Another month, another fishing trip, another yurt. Minnie Lake has become a yearly tradition for us every June. The sunsets and fishing are always great here!

We camped at a brand new lake location in July. It was the perfect spot for swimming and paddle boarding. You know what they say though, swimming lakes aren’t good fishing lakes. Oops, sorry dog dad!
