Strong Brew Hamstery Strong Brew is a hamstery devoted to producing quality hamsters in health, size and temperament. As such, we pick our hamsters carefully.

We are located in the GTA, however our hamsters are all over Ontario and some of the USA. Strong Brew Hamstery aims to produce healthy, well-tempered hamsters. Hamsters with good health, composition, and personality are chosen to be bred. Hamsters that do not meet our strict standard are kept here as pets or are sold as pets only, and should not be bred. We sometimes use new blood to increase the quality of our pups and may not have a full lineage on some litters. Strong Brew Hamstery’s overarching goal is to produce healthy, well-tempered hamsters in an assortment of colours that adhere to NHC and CHA standards. We follow the IHANA and OHC Codes of Ethics set forth, and will be showing this year. One half of the SBH team is the President of the Ontario Hamster Club, and is working on becoming a certified judge. We have relationships with other breeders all over the world. Strong Brew Hamstery hamsters are first and foremost beloved pets and are treated with respect, love, kindness and as friends. Any pup bred in this hamstery is welcome back should their owner not be able to care for the pup. Adoptees are encouraged to stay in contact with Strong Brew Hamstery through our email, page, or website. The final pup of the for a total of 8 beautiful pups and one last rex pup for a whopping 5/8 (!!!) rex pups is Richard ! I don't usually keep males from my litters, I put them on contracts, but I love him 😭 so he's staying here. Sorry, I do know so many of you are waiting on males.

He is a black rex longhair male and such a wonderful boy. His white tummy is a thing of glory and his white sheepy ears are just 👌 chefs kiss. No notes.

5/8 is insane odds for a gene that has so frequently dodged me over the years. Like really its insanity. I've been trying to breed rex into my lines since 2018 with very little luck. And now to have 5? Which means 3 of them will go to amazing pet homes? That like... Never happens. I am shook.

Remember when I said there was a fun surprise? Well, here it is. Meet Detective Esposito, a golden REX longhair male! I knew Finch could carry rex but did NOT expect Maui to. Maui carried rex from his dad Jax, from his dad Mochi, from his mum Deruni who got the gene from her mum Elvis. Five generations! So cool. I didn't even know.

So given those odds, 25% of the litter would be rex. I've had litters with 50% rex odds (Murres x Bristol) and ended up with 1/6 being rex. Rex is kinda my white whale.

It's time to meet the ! Finch and Maui made some gorgeous babies. I'll be sending out emails sometime tomorrow. We don't have as many pups at North did but these guys are special in their own way!

and Vireo had a litter on September 26th. Amelia was over 300g by delivery so I was expecting a big litter. Imagine my surprise when her nest just had two pups. Thankfully she seemed fine. By that evening one of the two had passed. Her singleton did really well but I started to get a little paranoid around the 30th. My anxiety has been high with pregnant mamas and pups so it's sometimes hard to parse between my brain being in fight or flight and actual issues.

Sadly, by Friday the 2nd, the pup, who we called , went downhill. I tried to desperately foster Comet with Finch and her pups but sadly Comet didn't make it and passed. I was and am still devastated about poor sweet Comet.

Amelia however is doing fine. After a bit of a break we will try to breed her again as her genetic outcross is so important to our lines. She did her best, so hopefully it'll go smoother next time.

Sweet dreams Comet. We may have only known and loved you for a short time but you were absolutely perfect and so special to me. 💗

It's Canadian Thanksgiving but it's also adoption weekend! The pups have already started going home and honestly, I'm gonna miss them. SBH has been around for 12 years now and while I love all these dudes I'm pretty excited for them to go to new homes. And while I am... I am truly going to miss this litter. They're funny and goofy and hilarious.

Marble the Hamster went home yesterday and their family brought these super fun treat sticks for the crew! They dipped them in pumpkin puree and added seed mix and Botanicals then let them dry. The pups (and Northie) thought they were delicious!
