A Little FYI :

A dog's coat acts as a thermostat regulator. Rather than actually chilling them, their fur traps cooler air against their skin in the summer and deflects the sun's rays. Here is how the coat responds and protects them in high heat and extreme temperature shifts:

* In Hot Weather: A double-coated dog naturally "blows" (sheds) their thick winter undercoat. This leaves behind the coarse outer coat, which creates a vital insulating layer that prevents the harsh sun from burning their skin.

* When Moving from Hot to Cold: Going from sweltering outdoors into air-conditioned spaces causes their coat to trap the cooler air, helping their body stabilize its core temperature safely.

* The Danger of Matted Fur: If dead undercoat is not brushed out, it gets matted and traps both heat and moisture. This acts like a heavy winter blanket, preventing the dog from cooling down.

* Shaving Concerns: Shaving a double-coated dog removes their sun protection. While it temporarily makes them feel cooler, it actually deprives them of their natural cooling and sun-blocking mechanism.

To help your dog beat the heat, use tools like an undercoat rake or slicker brush to clear out all loose fur
