(BPHCF) is a philanthropic partner of Newfoundland and Labrador's Eastern Health Board Authority. Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, our mission is to compliment traditional funding sources in support of local health care centers and patients living in remote and rural areas on the Burin Peninsula. Our programs and fundraising campaigns are designed to ensure support goes directly to our local health care centers to improve the quality of care for our patients and long term care residents. Our primary areas of focus include Mental Health & Addictions, Patient Comfort & Care, Chemotherapy, Dialysis, Rehabilitation, Women's Health, Pregnancy & Infant Loss, and Pediatrics. Health Care Centers on the Burin Peninsula that we support include: Burin Peninsula Health Care Center, Burin; US Memorial Health Care Center, St. Lawrence; Dr. S. Beckley Health Care Center, Grand Bank; Blue Crest Nursing Home, Grand Bank; Placentia West Medical Clinic, Boat Harbour and other various Community Health Sites located on the Burin Peninsula.

The Burin Peninsula Health Care Foundation gratefully acknowledges a heartfelt donation of $830 made by family and friends in loving memory of Susie Drake, with funds directed toward Palliative Care at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre.

Memorial gifts are a beautiful way to honour the life of someone special, while extending kindness and compassion to others. This thoughtful contribution will help support comfort and care for patients and families during some of life's most difficult moments.

🦋 Wings of Hope: A Legacy of Love, Remembrance & Support 💗💙

Some of the most meaningful projects begin with a family's love and a desire to bring comfort to others.

Since 2019, the Baby Lauryn Elizabeth Project has supported families across the Burin Peninsula experiencing pregnancy and infant loss, ensuring they are met with compassion, dignity and meaningful support.

Today, we're honoured to share this special photo of Lauryn's family - her parents, Victoria and Justin Bolt, her sister Kailey, and her brother Owen - standing together in front of the beautiful Springtime of Life mural at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre.

From the very beginning, the Bolt family has been an important part of this project, helping to keep Lauryn's memory alive while bringing hope and comfort to other families. We are deeply grateful for their continued involvement and for sharing Lauryn's legacy with our communities. 💕

Through our annual Wings of Hope campaign, the Burin Peninsula Health Care Foundation continues to purchase Infant Loss Kits and Angel Gowns for the BPHCC, providing families with comfort, dignity and opportunities to create precious memories with their babies.

We also want families to know that they are not alone. NL Health Services offers grief counselling and emotional support through its Children's & Women's Health Program and Pastoral Care & Ethics. Information about these services and how to access support can be found in our Wings of Hope brochures, or on our website.

As we recognize Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month this October, we hope to raise awareness, encourage conversations and remind families that their babies are remembered and support is available.

🦋 Our 6th Annual Wings of Hope butterflies are available for $20 each, with proceeds supporting local families experiencing loss.

🩷 A beautiful gift in memory of Baby Kelly 🩷

During Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, we were deeply touched to receive a very special donation from Pam Tobin, who lovingly donated 25 handmade baby blankets in memory of her daughter, Baby Kelly, who would have celebrated her 25th birthday this year.

Pam was joined by her daughter, Erica Power, and her grandson, Baby Anthony, as she presented the blankets, a beautiful moment spanning generations of their family and honouring a little life that continues to hold such an important place in their hearts.

These blankets will bring warmth and comfort to local families welcoming their little ones, each one carrying with it a very special story of love and remembrance.

During a month when we recognize the babies who are loved, remembered and forever missed, we are incredibly grateful to Pam for choosing to honour Baby Kelly in such a meaningful way.

The Burin Peninsula Health Care Foundation extends our heartfelt thanks to the family and friends of the late Millicent Cleal, who have generously donated $500 in her memory to support the Protective Care Unit at U.S. Memorial Long-Term Care Facility in St. Lawrence.

Memorial gifts are a meaningful way to honour the life of someone special while helping to enhance the care and comfort of residents here on the Burin Peninsula.

We are grateful to Millicent’s loved ones for choosing to honour her memory in this special way.

The Burin Peninsula Health Care Foundation is pleased to support an upcoming Pap Clinic in Marystown, offering scheduled appointments for cervical screening.

📅 Thursday, October 29th
⏰ 5:00–8:00 p.m.
📍 Marystown Community Services Building
📞 Call 709-279-7921 to book an appointment

Appointments are required, and both female and male health care providers will be available. When booking, please let us know if you have a provider preference.

‼️Patients are asked to arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled appointment. During your appointment, you can also speak with a provider about a mammogram referral if appropriate.

Additional Pap Clinic dates for St. Lawrence, Grand Bank and Placentia West will be announced at a later date. Stay tuned to our page for updates.

🍃 Work is underway to enhance the outdoor garden and patio space at U.S. Memorial Long-Term Care! 🌿

This fall, the Maintenance Team at U.S. Memorial is hard at work upgrading the patio area to make this much-loved outdoor space safer and more accessible for residents. A big shoutout to the team for the care and effort they’re putting into bringing these improvements to life! ❤️

Once completed, the upgraded space will give residents more opportunities to enjoy the outdoors during the warmer months, whether simply sitting outside with family and friends, participating in recreational activities, planting vegetables and flowers in the wheelchair-accessible raised garden beds, or coming together for our annual Garden Party! 🌱🌸

Projects like this are also made possible thanks to the many generous donors who support U.S. Memorial throughout the year. Every donation designated to U.S. Memorial helps us continue enhancing the care, comfort and quality of life of the residents who call it home. We are so grateful for that continued support. 🥰

☀️ A little August sunshine for your October feed! ☀️

We may be a little late sharing these photos, but this beautiful day at U.S. Memorial Health Centre was simply too good not to share! 💛

Back in August, residents, families and staff gathered for a wonderful Garden Party, enjoying a sunny summer day filled with music, games, great food and, most importantly, time together.

🎶 Ron Flannigan kept everyone entertained with live music, while the St. Lawrence CYN brought along games for residents and families to enjoy. And no garden party would be complete without plenty to eat, with delicious food from the BBQ and KFC!

It was especially wonderful to see families joining their loved ones and sharing in the celebration. Days like this bring so much joy to long-term care, creating opportunities for residents to socialize, enjoy some fun and simply spend a beautiful afternoon surrounded by family, friends and community.

October may be here, but we couldn’t resist looking back on one more beautiful summer day! ☀️🌻💛

💗 A new breastfeeding room is taking shape at BPHCC! 💙

As we recognize National Breastfeeding Week, October 1st –7th, we’re excited to share a project currently underway at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre! 🤱

You may have noticed a new temporary structure in the hallway, but there’s much more happening behind those walls than you can see! NLHS's maintenance team is hard at work creating a new, private breastfeeding room for moms and their babies. Once complete, the room will provide a quiet, comfortable and welcoming space, complete with a couch, change table, sink and TV.

Whether visiting for an appointment, accessing emergency services or spending time with a loved one, we want moms to have a comfortable and private space available when they need to breastfeed their baby.

National Breastfeeding Week is a wonderful time to celebrate the importance of creating supportive and welcoming spaces for breastfeeding families, and we’re very excited to see this new space come together. 💕

A big thank you to the BPHCC maintenance team for their work in bringing this project to life! 👏👏
