Testimony!

My name is Riley.

I was referred to Presqu’ile Animal Hospital by another vet’s office for my dental cleaning. My vet said RVT Sarah was the best he has ever seen at dentistry and I should go to her clinic. When we were at Presqu’ile Animal Hospital for my initial exam, Dr. Andrea found a lump on my leg and recommended having it removed while under anesthetic getting my teeth cleaned.

When Mom and I got to Presqu'ile Animal Hospital we were greeted by the very nice staff at the front desk. I did my usual routine of getting on the scale to get my treat but this time I didn’t get one. Mom said I wasn’t allowed to have treats before anesthesia. Then RVT Sarah came and talked to Mom for a bit before taking me to the treatment room. The treatment room was a bit scary but they made me a warm bed with my very own heat pad. I got to meet Heather and see Dr. Andrea again and they all promised I would get treats this afternoon! While I was sleeping RVT Sarah took x-rays of my teeth and probed for any pockets or other abnormalities, before she got them all clean again. Luckily all my teeth were in great condition and I didn’t need to have any extractions! Before waking me up, Dr. Andrea removed the lump on my leg and sent it away for testing to make sure it wasn’t something bad.

When I woke up Sarah gave me some cuddles and treats while I waited for Mom to come get me. I was so excited to see Mom. I gave her so many kisses. Mom didn’t mind because she said I didn’t have bad breath anymore. My teeth used to have brown hard stuff on them. Now they are nice and clean. My leg was a little bit sore, but Dr. Andrea gave Mom some medicine for that. After that a few days my leg was fine and the test result from the lump came back fine too. I will go back to Presqu’ile Animal Hospital for my next dental cleaning.

Is your cat slowing down? It might not just be age!

Does your cat hesitate before going up the stairs or jumping onto their favourite spot? Have you noticed: stiffness or a hunched posture, walking more carefully or gingerly, less jumping or climbing, decreased grooming or changes or messes around the litter box

These can all be signs of osteoarthritis (OA) — and cats are incredibly good at hiding their discomfort! The good news? We have options to help!

Depending on your cat’s needs, we may recommend joint supplements, omega fatty acids, pain medications or Solensia® or Portela® for more advanced arthritis.

Solensia® is given as a monthly injection, while Portela® is designed to provide pain relief for up to 3 months. Both are monoclonal antibody therapies that target nerve growth factor (NGF), which plays an important role in OA pain.

Every cat is different, so the best option depends on your cat’s individual arthritis and overall health.

If you’ve noticed your cat isn’t moving quite like they used to, don’t assume it’s just getting older. Give us a call — we’d love to help your cat get back to feeling more comfortable and enjoying their favourite activities!🥰

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a progressive condition that commonly affects older cats. One of the biggest challenges we see with CKD is weight loss caused by a decreased appetite. Maintaining a healthy weight is an important part of supporting your cat’s quality of life.

Elura is specifically designed for cats with CKD and helps support appetite by mimicking ghrelin, a natural hormone involved in hunger and appetite.

By increasing hunger and supporting metabolic changes, Elura can help encourage cats to eat and maintain or regain weight.

Why do we like it?
• Easy-to-use oral solution
• Designed specifically for cats with CKD
• Can be used daily for long-term appetite support
• Helps address appetite and weight loss, two common challenges in cats with CKD

If your cat with CKD is eating less, losing weight, or becoming increasingly picky, give us a call, text or email about whether Elura may be a good option for them.
