🐕Thursday Training Tip #36 : Train Through All Life Stages🐾

Training doesn’t stop once your dog knows the basics!

Dogs continue to grow and change throughout their lives. Puppies become adolescents, adolescents become adults, and eventually our dogs enter their senior years. Each stage can bring new behaviours, challenges, and needs.

Regular training helps to:
* Keep skills strong
* Provide mental stimulation
* Strengthen your bond
* Work through new behaviours as they arise
* Build confidence at every age

Remember, training isn’t something you finish, it’s something you continue throughout your dog’s life!

🐾Distractions & Focus Class #3️⃣🐾

Tonight we continued building on everything we’ve been working on over the past few weeks,engagement, settling, impulse control and staying focused around distractions!🐶

We also added in some leash & heel work, all while continuing to increase the distractions and challenge the dogs a little more! Everyone did a fantastic job tonight! It’s been so great watching this group improve each week and seeing all that practice start to pay off!🩵

Next week, Shipyards Landing! Time to put all these skills to use😍

We have a fun mix of puppies already signed up for our upcoming puppy class! There are two spots left if you have a puppy 8weeks to 6months that you are looking to get into a class!
Covering basic commands, proper play and owner engagement, handling, fear stages, and of course everyone’s favourite proper puppy play and socialization during the last class🐶🐾

🐕Thursday Training Tip #35 : Give Your Dog Appropriate Outlets for Energy!🐾

A dog with lots of energy doesn’t always need more exercise, they need the right outlets!🐶💨

Try mixing physical activity with activities that work their brain and satisfy natural instincts:
* Sniff walks & exploring
* Fetch, tug or appropriate play
* Short training sessions
* Scent games & “find it”
* Puzzle toys & enrichment
* Safe opportunities to run and play

Giving your dog healthy ways to move, sniff, think, chew and explore can help reduce boredom, frustration and unwanted behaviours.

Remember, the goal isn’t to exhaust your dog, it’s to fulfill their needs!💙🐾
