To all our senior clients: There is a point in many dogs' lives when a groom is no longer about getting every hair just right. It becomes about helping them feel clean, comfortable, and like themselves.
For an aging dog - especially one living with a serious or life-limiting condition - the kindest plan may look different than it did a few years ago. A shorter visit, more breaks, a simpler trim, or leaving a nonessential detail for another day can all be thoughtful choices when comfort is the priority.
You are the person who sees the little changes first: the way your dog settles at home, how long standing feels comfortable, whether they are more sensitive to handling, and what still makes their tail wag. Sharing those observations helps us make grooming decisions around the dog in front of us, not the version of the groom we used to do.
A comfort-focused groom is not less loving or less meaningful. It is grooming with a different purpose: preserving dignity, ease, and the ordinary routines that can still feel good.
