Meet Alexander, a handsome 10-year-old Domestic Shorthair with a big heart and a love for the simple things in life! He adores his parents and loves spending quality time with them. When he’s not soaking up the sunshine in his favorite sunroom, you can find him having a blast playing with his beloved red crayon toy. Alexander is the perfect mix of playful and laid-back, enjoying all the love, comfort, and cozy sunny spots his home has to offer!

Exciting Changes Are Coming to Shellard Lane Animal Hospital!

We’re slowly transforming our reception area, and we’re excited to share these upcoming changes with you!

As part of this transition, we’ll be phasing out the large bags of pet food we keep in stock. Don’t worry, though! We can still order these bags for you with at least a weeks advance notice. We can also help you sign up for our online Vet Store, making it easy to order your pet’s food and have it shipped directly to your home or to the clinic. As of January 1, 2027 we will no longer be stocking large or medium bags.

These changes are designed to make the most of our space and better accommodate the needs of our patients and their families. By creating a more open reception area, we hope to provide more comfortable seating and a less crowded environment, helping both dogs and cats feel more relaxed during their visits.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we make these improvements. We look forward to sharing our refreshed space with you and hope you’re just as excited about the changes as we are!

Wickley is a fun-loving boy with a special place in his heart for his favourite feline friend and his beloved toy. With his adorable personality and playful spirit, Wickley is sure to bring smiles to everyone he meets!

Meet Mowgli! This adorable 8-week-old Scottish Fold stole our hearts during his very first vet visit with Dr. Sarah! Mowgli absolutely loved all the extra attention and affection, and we quickly discovered two of his favourite things: yummy treats and chasing his laser pointer! We loved getting to meet this sweet little boy and can’t wait to watch him grow. Welcome to the clinic, Mowgli!

At just 6 months old, this domestic shorthair kitten is a tiny bundle of chaos with a BIG personality! Churro’s hobbies include harassing everyone and everything in sight, causing mischief wherever those little paws take him, and pursuing his true passion: absolutely destroying the curtains by climbing them like his own personal jungle gym! When he’s not busy terrorizing the household, he’s likely plotting his next great adventure. Equal parts adorable, mischievous, and completely unbothered by the consequences, Churro is living proof that dynamite really does come in small packages!

Introducing Our New & Improved Kitty Apartments at Shellard Lane Animal Hospital!

We know that a visit to the vet can be a stressful experience for our feline friends, especially when they need to stay with us for the day. That’s why we’ve made it our latest mission to find new and improved ways to make their time in our care as comfortable, cozy, and stress-free as possible!

After lots of research and a little extra kitty love, we’re excited to share our new and improved Kitty Apartments!

Each little apartment is designed with your cat’s comfort and happiness in mind, featuring:

• Feliway-sprayed towels covering the doors to provide privacy and help create a calming environment.
• A fuzzy blanket covering the floor for extra coziness.
• A fluffy bed and soft blanket to snuggle up in.
• Fresh food, water, and a litter box, of course!
• Fun kitty toys for a little entertainment.
• And the best part... CAT TV PLAYING ON TABLETS! That’s right! Every kitty gets their very own personal Cat TV to watch from the comfort of their apartment!

Our feline guests over the past two weeks have been loving their new accommodations, and we’re already noticing some encouraging differences in how they seem to be settling in! We’re so happy to be making positive changes to help our patients feel more comfortable while they’re away from home.

So, if your kitty is feeling under the weather and needs to spend the day with us, fear not! At Shellard Lane Animal Hospital, we’re committed to providing a safe, cozy, and comforting environment filled with extra TLC, soft snuggles, and a little kitty entertainment along the way.

Because even when they’re not feeling their best, our feline friends deserve to feel right at home.

Happy RVT Week from Shellard Lane Animal Hospital!

This week, we’re celebrating our incredible Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) and recognizing the compassion, dedication, and hard work they bring to our hospital every single day.

From monitoring anesthesia and assisting with surgeries to performing diagnostics, administering medications, caring for hospitalized patients, and monitoring recovery, our RVTs wear so many hats! They comfort nervous pets, reassure worried families, support our veterinarians, and keep the hospital running smoothly, all while juggling countless responsibilities with skill, kindness, and a smile.

Behind every successful procedure, treatment plan, and happy tail wag is an RVT making a difference through their knowledge, teamwork, and compassion. They are advocates for our patients, a source of comfort for our clients, and an essential part of our veterinary family.

Mary, Joelle, Stacey, Zoe, Abby, and Vanessa, thank you! We are so grateful for your dedication, adaptability, kindness, and all the incredible work you do, both seen and unseen. We are so proud to have you on our team!

Meet Scarlett, our star surgical patient of the week!

Scarlett came in for her spay surgery, a routine procedure that helps prevent pregnancy and other complications by surgically removing the reproductive organs. Her procedure was performed by Dr. Marlah, accompanied by RVT Stacey, and Scarlett was such a good girl throughout her stay!

We’re so proud of Scarlett and how well she did! Now it’s time for plenty of rest, cuddles, and a smooth, speedy recovery at home.

Meet our most enthusiastic “Junior Vets” yet! This adorable sibling duo was SO excited to help Dr. Sarah during their pets’ medical exam! From lending a helping hand to learning all about their furry friend’s health, they were eager to be part of it all. We absolutely loved having these little helpers in the clinic!
