It is Vet Tech Appreciation Week and do we ever have some people to celebrate🐾

What do vet techs do all day?

Oh, just a little bit of EVERYTHING. 😅

Veterinary technicians do so much more than assist the veterinarian.

They are the ones checking vital signs, monitoring anesthesia, running diagnostics, assisting with surgery, administering medications, caring for hospitalized patients, educating pet parents, and making sure every patient receives the attention and compassion they deserve.

And through it all, they show up with skill, compassion, patience, resilience, and an enormous amount of heart.

So here's to Jolene, Josh, and Stephanie who keep tails wagging, whiskers twitching, patients comfortable, Veterinarians organized, and veterinary clinics running. ❤😻💐

🦃Watch what is gobbled so you don’t wobble into an emergency!

We know those puppy-dog eyes are extra convincing when the turkey comes out, but some holiday foods can turn a happy Thanksgiving into an unhappy trip to the vet. 😬

A few things to keep away from curious paws:
🍗 Turkey bones & carcasses: cooked bones can splinter and cause serious problems.
🗑️ The trash: bones, turkey skin, grease, foil, skewers, and food scraps can be tempting (and dangerous!).
🧅 Onions & garlic: found in many holiday dishes and unsafe for pets.
🍇 Grapes & raisins: even small amounts can be dangerous for dogs.
🍫 Chocolate & desserts: keep the sweets on the human table.
🥧 Rich, fatty foods: too much can cause some very unhappy tummies.

Want to share the Thanksgiving love with your four-legged family members? 🐶🐱 Stick to their regular food or offer a pet-safe treat instead!
And remember: when the feast is finished, make sure the leftovers and trash are safely out of reach. 👀🗑️

By taking precautions, your wallet will be thanking you!

This October we will be fundraising for the Farley Foundation! 🐾
The Farley Foundation supports the relationship between pets and people by generating and allocating resources to subsidize urgent veterinary care for residents of Ontario who qualify. The Farley Foundation subsidizes the cost of non-elective veterinary care such as surgery (including some dental surgery), hospitalization and diagnostics. What's not covered: routine exams, vaccinations, food (including prescription diets), routine spays/neuters and general prophylactic dental care.
But this is where things can get interesting: we have a goal of $2,500 if we reach it Dr Seguin will dye her hair BLUE and Josh will shave the mustache he’s been growing the last 6 years!

Time for another staff spotlight!

Meet Dr. Susan DeSousa 🩺🐾she was born and raised in Kitchener and has always had a strong connection to animals and the people who love them. She completed her undergraduate studies at Simon Fraser University in beautiful British Columbia, then returned to Ontario to earn her DVM from the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph. Don’t let her youthful face fool you, she has been practicing animal medicine for over 20 years!

Dr. Susan shares her life with her husband and a loving mix of kids (human, feline, and canine!) and brings that same warmth and enthusiasm to her work every day. She truly loves being a veterinarian, especially getting to know her clients and patients and building long-term relationships over the years. Known for her love of talking and laughing, Dr. Susan brings positive energy wherever she goes. When she’s not at the clinic, she enjoys traveling and making new memories. She is also Fear Free Certified, ensuring a calm and compassionate experience for every pet she cares for. 🐾
