😩 if you are able to foster or adopt PLEASE go sign up to do so. So many animals needing homes, so much so that Salty has had to officially turn new intakes away as they do not have the resources to continue currently.
CLOSED FOR INTAKE.
I’ve committed to one more dog. After that, Salty is currently unable to take in more animals. Until we raise more funds and find at least a foster for Hamm, if not adopters for him and Harley, I have no choice.
We continue to get flooded with intake requests, but it isn’t fair to the animals or myself if I don’t put up this boundary. The rescue account is the lowest it’s been in a long time. I can’t take on anymore animals if I can’t provide them with the care they deserve. People continue to see their animals as disposable and expect rescues to be begging to take on the responsibility of yet another life. I’ve sacrificed so much running the rescue as an unpaid volunteer for 5 years now. Rescue is one of the hardest, most frustrating, futile, devastating “jobs” there is and I wish more people could understand that. Helping animals, that in most cases others so easily have failed, can’t be put on so few.
We cant keep rescuing if we can’t even find fosters for dogs like Hamm. I can’t foster them all myself or keep putting them on the same burnt out fosters. We can’t afford to pay to board dogs, especially ones that should have no issue finding homes.
Salty is not funded besides your donations. Rescue bills never stop. I hate constantly having to beg for donations from the same kind people who many times, like myself, can’t afford it. I wish there was another way.
Feeling hopeless and like I’m failing animals hurts my soul. I have a dream for Salty to be a successful rescue valued by our community. That goal keeps getting further and further away.
