Reminder to register your rabies tag(s) at getmehome.ca. We just had a situation where a dog was lost but as I can no longer access the vet software I can't search. But if tags are registered then they can be searched there. We were able to get this dog home as I recognized the dog and was able to track down the owner :) So please register your tags so Fido or Fluffy Cat can find their way home!

Client Files Update: Hello my lovely former clients. Hope you are having a lovely summer :) Just a last reminder that if you have not received your pet's medical record it is very important to let me know so I can fix that. Note that if not seen in the last 2-3 yrs we may not have sent files as obviously your pet will be due for exam and likely vaccines. Most medical records were emailed in May - June. Those without emails were hand delivered or mailed. I was given an extra month's access, I just realized recently, to the software so end of July I will for sure not have access. I may be able to search some things from the downloads but I am finding it very limited and hard to do. Make sure your rabies tags are registered (scan the QR code on the tag), make sure your microchip info stays up to date. If a pet gets lost I can search for owner via those things. Also make sure you know your vaccine status. The easiest way is to look at the bottom of your last invoice. It will show what/when things are due. Reminders are still being sent until the end of the month if you have a pet that is coming due for vaccines but of course you will need to book that with your new vet. Hope you and fur babies are all doing well. Note I can be contacted via email or text and will usually respond within 24 hours.

So the ticks are out in full force. Have been doing some walks through the gravel pit near us here and picking off a ton. So remember to prevent lyme make sure your pet is on a tick medication. Ticks can still come in on your dog (and give you Lyme) so I do recommend checking the dog after every walk even if on meds. They also have to bite to be killed by meds like Nexgard and the bite can cause a reaction. So another reason to check them thoroughly after walks. For dogs that walk a lot in long grass i.e. hiking, camping etc, I also recommend Lyme vaccine and do that for my own dog. So triple protection.. tick meds (Nexgard, Credelio, etc), checking daily and after all walks, and Lyme vaccine.
While Lyme disease is rarely fatal it can cause long term problems as antibiotics stop symptoms but do not kill the bacteria. We need to monitor for protein in the urine long term. So prevention is the key. Sorry I can no longer help you with products. Please call your current clinic for this! Have a great summer.

Well there is no turning back now. The Petmobile is off to BC after a very scary loading procedure. I have paid for software subscription until the end of the month so if you were a client and have questions I can at least discuss with you. Please make note of when your next vaccines etc are due so your pet doesn't lapse.

PERMANENT CLOSURE: Just a final notice that all the medical records have been sent. If you don't see them in your in box check you spam/junk mail. I'll still be able to send up to the end of July only.

I will leave the page open. I may be able to answer basic questions (consult fee may apply) going forward for a bit. I may also post public service/educations posts etc.

Phone calls from non-clients may not be returned since I can't really help out anyway.

Medical Records: Well I have finally got all the medical records sent. I now have no vision in my left leg lol. Anyway if you didn't receive your pet's records please check your junk/spam folder. If not there let me know. Note that we only sent current clients and clients seen in the last 2-3 years. If we saw you before that and you would like medical records I'm happy to send. Please email/phone/text if that is the case. Once my vision returns I'll get it done :)
