Paws Crossed Animal Shelter & Adoption Centre A privately run not-for-profit animal shelter & adoption centre. Thank you again. Find it here: https://www.amazon.ca/hz/wishlist/ls/2BGPYLZ9TGG4F?ref_=wl_share

Paws Crossed Animal Shelter and Adoption Center a 100% volunteer run and donation funded animal shelter just outside of Brandon Manitoba- servicing all of the Westman area. We are a registered not for profit awaiting our charity designation; operations are overseen by a board of directors including our on site manager, animal loving community members, and a licensed veterinarian to ensure we are

not just meeting but exceeding provincial standards for operation. We like to say we are animal focused and community driven, with not a single paid position every dollar we receive via donation goes directly to animal care and shelter costs. We have a small dedicated group of volunteers who donate their time to keeping our facility running smoothly including our shelter manager who lives onsite. We take many types of animals- in the last year we have had dogs, cats, rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, budgies, quail, and even a pet chicken. Animals come into our care through a variety of avenues with a large portion coming in via animal control from rural municipalities without pound facilities. Having introduced ourselves to the community in September of 2021 we are still the new kids on the block, but are committed to making a difference in the lives of animals in Westman and beyond! Thank you for all your support to date, as we look to the year ahead and the challenges we are all facing in Manitoba. If you are interesting in making a donation to support our work we accept e-transfers at [email protected], in person at the shelter (please message ahead as we are sometimes away on vet runs etc.) and at Rosser Medical Clinic 841 Rosser Ave Brandon who are an official drop off location for the shelter. Our most needed items at this time are:
Clumping cat litter
Friskies or fancy feast wet
Supreme, cat chow, kitten chow kibbles
Training Treats! Toys (especially chews like kongs, topples, etc) NO RAW HIDE PLEASE
catnip
Brooms
Bleach
Detol
Rags & buckets
Dawn dish soap
We couldn't do the work we do without the support of our wonderful community of Paws Crossed Supporters! We also have compiled an amazon wish list to give an idea of types of items we are always in need of or are looking for to provide enrichment activities to our guests.

Day 44 of posting Marty until he's adopted!

After nearly a month and a half of daily Marty posts, we've realized something:

A whole lot of people are rooting for a dog they've never actually met.

And, honestly? We get it.

He's handsome.

He's sweet.

He's ridiculously happy all the time.

And he has a head roughly the size of a small planet.

What's not to love?

Now we're just trying to find the one person who gets to call him theirs.

Message us, apply, or share to help Marty find his forever home.

🎟️ What if the winning ticket is the one you almost bought?

For just $10, you could be in the running for half the jackpot—and at the same time help animals get the care, safety, and second chance they deserve.

Our Fetch the Funds 50/50 Lottery has just begun, which means there's plenty of time for the jackpot to grow.

The only question is: when it does, will you already have your tickets?

Buy early, then spend the summer watching the jackpot climb knowing you're already in the running.

Because nobody ever checks the winning number and thinks, "I'm glad I didn't buy a ticket."

Get in on the jackpot here: https://www.rafflebox.ca/raffle/fetch-the-funds

Day 43 of posting Marty until he's adopted!

Marty has exactly two settings:

1. Best day ever.
2. About to be the best day ever.

We're trying to make sure one of those days includes a forever home.

Message us, apply, or share to help him find one.

Day 42 of posting Marty until he's adopted!

After 42 days of daily posts, Marty has informed us that he would like to escalate his adoption status to management. He has submitted the following statement for review:

---

Hello.

It has come to my attention that I am still at the shelter.

After reviewing the situation, I have concluded that this is almost certainly an administrative error.

If you are my future family, please submit the appropriate paperwork (application), contact the relevant department (message us), or forward this notice to the correct party (share this post).

Thank you for your cooperation.

Day 41 of posting Marty until he's adopted!

Have you ever wanted a dog that looks at you like you've just returned home from war, won the lottery, and personally invented tug toys?

Marty has that look perfected.

We're just trying to find him a family to direct it at permanently.

Message us, apply, or share to help Marty find his forever home.

Day 40 of posting Marty until he's adopted- and today we have some big news!

No, Marty hasn't been adopted yet.

But over the past month, we've heard the same thing from a lot of people: "I'd love to adopt Marty, but I have cats."

When Marty first came to us, living with cats wasn't something we felt comfortable recommending.

But over the past year and a half, Marty has made incredible progress in so many areas. His leash manners have improved. His reactivity has improved. His ability to focus and work through exciting situations has improved.

So we started asking ourselves: "If Marty has changed this much in every other area of his life, maybe it's time to take another look at his compatibility with cats?"

So today, we teamed up with Aubrey from Franky’s Walk and Train for a re-assessment.

The result?

While Marty will still require slow introductions, training, and thoughtful management, he showed good potential to live peacefully with cats in the right home.

And because Aubrey wants to see Marty find his home just as much as we do, she's offering his future adopters a complimentary training package to help set everyone up for success.

• A free 5-session training program
• Personalized guidance as Marty settles into his new home
• Help with introductions and integration with resident pets
• Heavily discounted future sessions should additional support ever be needed (and we do mean ever- even if it's that he becomes a cranky old man at 10 years old, the discount still applies!)

For over 500 days, we've been looking for Marty's person.

Today, that search got a little bit bigger. 🧡

Message us to learn more about Marty and whether he might be the missing piece in your family.

Putting two cats with orange-cat tendencies in the same habitat is always a bit of a gamble.

Fortunately, a lot of thought goes into choosing roommates in Adoption Avenue. When Eggs found himself needing a new one recently, the decision was actually pretty easy.

Eggs is around a year old now and one of our former bottle babies. He's sweet as all get out, but he's a little bit scrambled- there just isn't a whole lot going on upstairs (He may be mostly white, but the orange cat is strong in him).

Sid, our cross-eyed 9-month-old flame point, brings plenty of orange boy energy of his own, so we figured they might just speak the same language.

Turns out we were right.

These two have become fast friends, spending their days chasing each other around, wrestling, and generally causing chaos before eventually curling up together once they've burned through every last ounce of energy.

And no, they don't have to be adopted together.

They're just doing a really good job of making people think they should be.

Day 39 of posting Marty until he's adopted!

Somewhere out there is a person who has never met Marty.

Which is honestly a shame, because he's pretty great.

Let's fix that.

Message us, apply, or share to help Marty find his forever home.

We are blessed to work so closely with WALA Westman Area Lost Animals.

Love isn't just found in forever homes. It's found in the volunteers who sits quietly with a frightened dog until trust begins to grow. It's found in the hands that clean, feed, medicate, comfort, and care. It's found in every early morning, late night, and extra shift taken to ensure no animal feels forgotten. At Paws Crossed, our volunteers give animals something every living creature deserves—the chance to feel safe, valued, and loved.

Because every animal deserves more than shelter—they deserve kindness, compassion, and a chance to heal. ❤️🐾

Donations toward Muppet's care can be made by etransfer to [email protected] or directly to Neepawa Veterinary Clinic [email protected] (add paws crossed in the memo field to ensure it is put on the correct account)
