Taylor Bland "Wonder"ful Stallion getting ready for Rocky Mountain Show Jumping Royal West!!

As we move indoors to synthetic footing, how we set up the horses for optimal performance 🏇🏼 changes.

Speed, slide, flotation and omnidirectional breakover become more important factors.

Synthetic footing has more traction than other surfaces, to reduce coffin joint impact we want to maintain slide at mid stance.

It is also usually fairly firm and a shoe with omnidirectional breakover alleviates collateral lever arm torque in tight turns.

As always aiming for an aligned HPA helps with both short and long term health as well as performance.

Shod fronts with ACR ALUMINIUM HORSESHOES 340, flat plastic pad and Source For Horse shore 25A silicone packing.

Shod hinds with Werkman_Hoofcare Hero and 3D HoofCare
Half mesh pad and shore 25A silicone packing.

I've really enjoyed using the Hero model it has an asymmetrical shape with a symmetrical branch width. I was able to get a nicer hind shape than last time where he had very square toes.

First visit and shoeing for this young gelding with a sole crack from an abscess. With protection and comfort in mind we used a size 5 DF from lmodified with a slight "salad bowl" profile. Coupled with a leather pad and soft polyurethane packing.

EasyCare Inc. Versa Glue with clear Hooflox.

Glue on shoes are a fantastic choice for horses that haven't been shod or need shoes for a cycle or two before returning back to barefoot.

This horse was having trouble with its right stifle, the extra length and support under the hoof capsule helped with engagement immediately after application.

We had a beautiful morning shoeing handsome horse Lincoln KVS!!

As we move into the fall 🍂 and off of grass, more work and showing will be on grippier synthetic surfaces.

Shod with Classic Roller, Hybrid 5 CU nails and half mesh pad in front. This combination provides great engagement of the caudal aspect of the foot while reducing leverage of the collateral lever arms of the coffin joint as the horse makes tight turns following jumps.

Handmade "Rodeo" hinds 3/8"X1" inspired by .peers paired with 3D half mesh pad. This shoe provides slide as the hind end comes around in turns with a fullered toe to grip in for propulsion 🚀!

Our new team member Chris Ross shod this mare beautifully with the Royal Kerckhaert Horseshoes Classic Roller and Austin Forge and Machine, LLC Plexus pads with Source For Horse shore 15A DIM

Mare presented with a camped out posture, negative palmar angles and broken back hoof pastern axis.

Shod with the new Source For Horse concave fronts and hinds. 3° wedge pads on the front coupled with a trim focused on removing excess toe length and depth, helped us improve that palmar angle and alignment.

Similar goal in the hind feet using a 3D HoofCare half mesh narrow pad in pink.

Afterwards the mare showed improved posture, standing square and much more comfortably.
