Skystone Farm Skystone Farm is home to horses and their people. We produce horses for sport and we offer a community for people who want to develop their horsemanship.

Skystone Farm is always evolving, always refining our understanding of what makes a good horseman. A blend of classical and contemporary 'english' riding, our backgrounds are in dressage and showjumping. Yet removed from the business of horses where success is measured by the ability to stay away at horse show venues, we choose to stay home, working with and learning from our partners, the Horses of Skystone. We are amateurs in the true sense of the word, it is not our profession, it is our passion. Occasionally one of our horses graduates and finds new owners who respect and enjoy all that they are and the fruits of our labours to educate and carefully condition them to accept the demands and whims we impose on them.

5 yr old, Rocket Man 5Z. 2nd show ever. First one at Spruce. A bit nervous here in his first class, but clear at .90m. Next day more relaxed and in the ribbons.

Her reaction at her first canter says it all.

Mooney (aka Obbie) has reached a new level in his restart. He’s safe, now, for his owner. We celebrated Tosha’s joy today. A new chapter begins. ❤️🐴

Permission to fail. A mistake is momentary if you don’t let it steal your focus. Back in school at 2.5yrs, Azriel’s first time with a bit in his mouth. He decides to leave, but is brought back to the class without escalation of energy from trainer or horse.

Positive Coggins found in Foothills No 31.

Few horse shows require a proven negative Coggins test this year. IMO I believe that to be a casual disregard at the risk of horses and sets a bad example for the entire industry that can be much too casual about hauling our horses back and forth to different places.

Any horse testing positive has to be quarantined for life or euthanized. Since the disease is spread via insect bites, it boggles my mind how they can be easily quarantined. If a horse tests positive, an entire farm is shut down until all horses test negative. An expensive endeavour in itself.

🚨 EIA Case Confirmed in Alberta

The CFIA has confirmed a positive case of Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA) in Foothills No. 31, Alberta. The horse showed no clinical signs of disease when sampled.

Movement controls and disease response measures are currently in place, and horse owners are encouraged to review and strengthen their biosecurity protocols.

Protect your horses. Stay informed. Practice good biosecurity.
