🎒🐾 Back to school means a change in routine for our pets, too! 💙🏠

September often brings earlier mornings, busy evenings, kids heading back to school, and homes that suddenly feel much quieter during the day.

And while we’re adjusting to new schedules, our pets are noticing those changes too.

You may see your pet following you more closely, waiting by the door, vocalizing, seeming restless, or simply looking for a little extra attention as they settle into the new routine.

A few things can help make the transition easier:
🐾 Keep meals, play time and bed locations as consistent as possible
🐾 Build in some one-on-one time before or after school
🐾 Offer new enrichment toys or a special clothing item with your scent
🐾 Give them a little time and patience to adjust

And don’t forget those goodbye hugs on the way out the door. Sometimes our pets are just as attached to the back-to-school crew as we are. 💙🐱

💙🏡 Labour Day Schedule Update 🐾

A quick reminder that our office will be closed on Monday, September 7th for Labour Day.

We’ll be taking a little pause for the long weekend and will return to our regular schedule on Tuesday, September 8th.

If your pet requires medication refills, food picked up, or you have something you’d like our team to address before the weekend, please reach out ahead of time so we can do our best to help.

🍂🐾 Hello, September! 🏠🐾

The mornings are getting a little cooler, the light jackets are coming back out, and our walks are starting to feel just a little more like fall.

September is such a beautiful time to get outside with our pets — whether it’s a favourite hiking trail, a quiet walk through the neighbourhood, or simply a little more time exploring together without the summer heat.

Here’s to cooler adventures, changing leaves, muddy paws, and plenty of time spent together this month. 💙🐾

To the dogs who greet us like we've been gone for years, remind us to slow down and enjoy the little things, and love us with their whole hearts... today is for you.

Whether they're tiny lap dogs, adventurous hiking buddies, loyal farm dogs, or gentle seniors, we're so grateful for the joy they bring to our lives.

🌈 🐾 Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day 🐾 🌈

Today is a day for remembering.

The pets who grew alongside our families. The ones who greeted us at the door, slept in their favourite spot, joined us on adventures, and somehow became part of almost every ordinary moment.

And while their time with us eventually comes to an end, the relationship we shared with them doesn’t simply disappear.

We carry pieces of them forward — in our routines, our stories, the photos we can't bring ourselves to delete, and the little memories that still catch us by surprise. 💙

Today, we’d love to make this space about them.

🐝🐾 Late summer means plenty of buzzing activity! 🏠💙

Bees and wasps are especially active this time of year, and an interesting buzz can be hard for a curious cat or dog to resist.

Most encounters result in nothing more than a startled pet, but stings can happen — especially around the face, mouth and paws when pets try to sniff, swat at or catch them.

Keep an eye out for nests around decks, sheds, eaves and favourite backyard hangouts, and give active areas plenty of space. 🏠🐾

If your pet is stung, watch for significant swelling, hives, vomiting, difficulty breathing, weakness or collapse. These can be signs of a serious allergic reaction and require prompt veterinary attention.

A little extra awareness around the home can help keep those late-summer adventures safe. 💙🐾🐝

🐾🏠💙 For some cats, the best exam room is their own living room. 🐱

No stressful car ride. No unfamiliar waiting room. No strange smells or sounds.

Instead, this little guy got to stay right where he was comfortable — relaxing on the couch while Dr. Henderson listened to his heart and lungs. And as you can see, he was a pretty wonderful patient. 🥰

For cats who find trips to the veterinary clinic stressful, receiving care at home can make the experience feel very different. Being surrounded by familiar sights, smells and people allows many cats to remain calmer while still receiving the veterinary care they need.

Sometimes, comfort really does start at home. 🚗💙🐾

Many families share their home with multiple pets of different ages, personalities, and health needs.

Maybe your puppy is due for vaccinations, your middle-aged dog has an itchy ear, and your senior cat is slowing down. Every pet has their own story—and their own healthcare needs.

One of the benefits of a house call is that we can often address everyone's individual needs during the same visit. It means less coordinating, less travelling, and a chance to look at each pet as an individual while also understanding the family as a whole.

Because when you have multiple pets, caring for one often means caring for all of them. 🐾💙

📦💙 A little behind-the-scenes look at life in a mobile veterinary practice!

When our medical supplies arrive, they make their way to Dr. Janet's office, where the work really begins. From unpacking and organizing to updating inventory and restocking our vehicles, it's all part of making sure we're prepared for every house call.

Because when you're on the road, you can't just pop into a supply closet if something unexpected comes up. We work hard to keep our vehicles well stocked so we're ready to provide the best possible care—wherever our patients need us.
