Last but not least to meet on our team is Christina, our Practice Manager!
Finding the right person for this role was easily the most thorough and deliberate hiring process we went through. While we had the flexibility to bring on multiple great candidates across other areas of our clinic, there can only be one Practice Manager! This role carries substantial responsibility: overseeing daily operations from the moment the doors unlock in the morning until the last patient leaves and the lights go out at night, along with everything in between.
We needed someone with veterinary experience who could hit the ground running and help guide the hospital through opening. More importantly, we needed the right leadership philosophy. Dr. Christine and I do not subscribe to top-down, command-and-control management. We are firm advocates of servant leadership. We believe our role as owners, and Christina’s as our manager,is to support the people doing the day-to-day medical work.
Remove roadblocks, lift the team up, and providing steady guidance through challenging days and honest mistakes. Our philosophy is straightforward, when you take thorough care of your team they are motivated to give you their best and provide the best care and service to our clients and patients. This is what makes the pracitce flourish.
From our very first conversations, Christina was completely aligned with this mindset. We could not be more excited to have her steering our operations.
Here is a bit more about Christina:
Christina grew up in a small farming community in southern Manitoba before moving to Campbell River in her early 20s to pursue a career in aquaculture. She brings previous Human Resources and Veterinary Practice Management experience to the team.
Christina is married with two boys, along with her dog Max, cat Kiwi, and a couple of fish tanks. In her spare time, you’ll usually find her outdoors. Whether it’s gardening, fishing, camping, paddleboarding, kayaking, or hiking, she loves it all.
