When I started Green Wheel Farms back in 2014, it looked nothing like it does today. There were no grow racks, no indoor trays of microgreens, no weekly memberships. What I had were people’s yards, empty lots, and a determination to grow real food for my community.
I built this farm one borrowed backyard at a time — planting cut‑and‑come‑again greens, baby root vegetables, and herbs wherever I could find space. Homeowners received a share of the harvest, and the rest I sold to restaurants and at the Belleville Farmers Market. It was simple, honest, and deeply connected to the people and the land around me.
Microgreens weren’t the main product back then. They were just a way to keep the farm alive through Canadian winters — a fast, reliable crop that generated enough cash flow to bridge the gap until outdoor growing returned.
But the climate changed. Seasons became unpredictable, storms more frequent, and outdoor production less reliable. Eventually, I had to make a hard choice: stop fighting the instability and shift toward what I could control.
That’s when microgreens became the heart of Green Wheel Farms.
Today, these tiny plants carry the whole farm. They’re grown indoors, chemical‑free, harvested at peak nutrition, and delivered fresh to the people who’ve supported me since the beginning. They’re the evolution of a farm that started in borrowed soil and adapted to a changing world.
If you’re new here, welcome. If you’ve been with me since the backyard days, thank you. And if you want a steady supply of nutrient‑dense greens every week, our Microgreens Membership is the best way to bring that freshness into your home — simple, reliable, and grown right here in Belleville.
Green Wheel Farms has changed over the years — but the mission hasn’t. Grow good food. Support the community. Stay rooted, even when the ground shifts.
