Some tips regarding fireworks and dogs:

Check backyard gates ahead of time because they could even go off during the day. Dogs can bolt when they're afraid.

Don't baby your dog if he's afraid,and avoid excessive petting and high pitched voices. Put him in the house, keep him on a leash. Tell him he's fine, but not overly excessive. Work some tricks or obedience. If all else fails, put him in a crate. Do not take any pet to fireworks even if they have seemed okay in the past. Their ears are very sensitive to loud noises.

If anyone is interested in teaching a dog to overcome fears, to not charge out front doors or gates(for any reason!) to be calm in a crate and much more -
